"The hotel was very clean, and the staff were incredibly polite. It was definitely worth the money I paid. I also got to try both types of private open-air baths, and the in-room open-air bath was spacious enough. All the meals were delicious and thoroughly satisfying. My only minor disappointment was that the next course was brought out very quickly, one after another, before I had even finished the previous one. This might have been because we had the 8 PM dinner slot. I'd recommend booking your dinner time early if you can. I wasn't able to choose and only had the 8 PM slot available. Also, I was advised that the earlier breakfast slots were recommended and that other times might not allow me to fully enjoy the meal, but that wasn't the case at all. Everything was fine."

"We stayed for three nights during the Obon holiday this summer. Both the owner and the manager were incredibly kind, and thanks to them, we had a very comfortable stay. We opted for the breakfast and dinner plan, and I was a little worried if our two elementary school children would find anything they liked, but we decided to make it an experience. As it turned out, they managed to eat quite a few things. Coincidentally, there was a flute performance on one of the days, and enjoying our meal with the beautiful music was absolutely delightful! In the summer, there's a shaved ice service in the lounge. Our kids would stop by after dinner or after their onsen bath, and eat shaved ice at the counter like regulars. The onsen (hot spring) varied between lukewarm and hot. When I asked the owner, he explained that the temperature of the spring water changes daily, so it's not a fixed temperature. Sometimes you expect it to be hot and it's lukewarm, or you think it'll be lukewarm and it's hot – you really couldn't predict it! (laughs) In terms of location, the hotel was very convenient for our travel plans, with canyoning, rafting, Mogura Station, and michi-no-eki (roadside stations) all nearby. The photo shows the shelf visible from the counter seats. It's full of the owner's favorite alcoholic beverages (laughs). He's apparently happy to chat if you'd like company, so why not say hello? ^_^ On the evening of the third day, we booked the table tennis table and enjoyed a family game after dinner. Playing table tennis in yukata was a lot of fun for the whole family! They also have karaoke, apparently! (laughs) We saw some reviews mentioning communication issues with foreign staff, but they used their phones to communicate, and they were always quick to respond, so it wasn't an issue for us at all. It's a place we'd love to visit again if we have the chance. We really enjoyed our three-night stay in a clean room. Thank you so much for everything!"

"Facilities: Very comprehensive, most common amenities are available, but some in-room facilities are a bit old. Hygiene: No major issues, overall feeling was good. You even have to take off your shoes before entering the hotel, and you can wear socks throughout the entire hotel. Environment: Beautiful views and great hotel design, plus very attractive private hot spring landscaping. I think it met my expectations. Service: Nothing exceptionally special, but everyone was very enthusiastic in providing service, which I really appreciated."

"Traveling with my best friend, we booked a tatami room with half board (dinner and breakfast included). It had two beds within the tatami setup. The room was compact but very clean, and they provided a basket for each of us with a bath towel and toiletries, which was super convenient for taking to the hot springs. The absolute highlight was the two meals – fresh ingredients like Japanese cuisine and the exquisite presentation of French dishes. Absolutely perfect!"

"This hotel has a lot of character. Even though it's a hundred years old, it doesn't feel dated at all. I didn't experience the issues with poor soundproofing or creaky floors that some other reviews mentioned. The service was excellent! There's a free shuttle to and from the Kusatsu Bus Terminal, though you need to call to book it. If you don't have a phone, you can ask someone at the bus station to help you contact them. There's also complimentary coffee and snacks on the first floor. All the little service details really made us feel at home. The public bath experience was great; it wasn't crowded, and both the indoor and outdoor baths were very comfortable. There was even water and essence available at the hair-drying station. The room was spacious, and the futons were laid out in advance in the evening, which was very comfortable."

"Great hot spring hotel ♨️ and also very famous, it is said to have a bit of history ~ the room is very big, and the staff will carefully write the guest's name on the door after booking. There is a parking lot right in front of the hotel. There are some souvenirs on the first floor for guests to choose and buy. The price is moderate-the whole hotel is very quiet. There is an observation deck on the top floor, and there are places to eat and drink. It is above the housing floor, the housing is on the middle floor, and the hot spring is under the housing floor."

"The hotel is located about half an hour's drive from Shangmao Plateau Station. The hotel has a free shuttle bus. The hotel will send an email one day in advance to confirm whether you need to book a shuttle. The hotel is in a small village, there are no modern facilities around, such as small hotel cafes, etc., basically can play in the hotel. The hotel is divided into two pieces, one is the location of the main hotel lobby, with the hotel lobby, restaurant, and small courtyard, as well as a public hot spring pool open to the outside world. The other is to ignore, mainly with accommodation rooms, a hot spring developed only for the accommodation passengers, and a small cable car. Two places can be reached by the hotel's unmanned tram, but the tram is very slow. It takes about 4 minutes to walk normally, and you need to walk a lot of stairs, which is not very friendly to passengers with inconvenient legs and feet. The overall style of the hotel is similar to the retro farm style, a bit like living in a small temple, the overall layout of the room and outside the hotel is quite detailed, there are many old-looking decorations, and the hotel also collects a lot of antiques. It feels different from other Japanese and modern Western hotels I usually live in, which is quite novel. The hot spring in the main hall seems to be a mixed bath for men and women. The other hall is separate for men and women. The hot spring has a sulfur taste but is not heavy, indoors and outdoors. If you eat a meal, I personally feel that the medium is a little bit above the level. The weight is really big. It is no problem to eat. 😂 The hotel is built on the hillside. Our room is at the highest point of the other hall. It overlooks the large rice fields in front of the hotel. The view is very wide and the scenery is very good when the sun is good. The room is large as a whole and private. There is a bathtub in the room, but it is not hot spring water. To sum up, the hotel style is quite distinctive, the view of the room is good, but the traffic is not particularly convenient, and the overall price/performance ratio is still slightly lower for me. Originally, I didn't book other hot spring hotels before I temporarily booked this one with a vacancy. Overall, the experience is medium-sized"

"The hotel is a bit of a drive from Karuizawa JR Station, about 35 minutes, and there's a toll fee. However, the scenery along the way is beautiful. Shiraito Falls is about 10 minutes away. The hotel parking lot is ample and very convenient. The hotel rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The hot springs are both indoor and outdoor, with an orange-brown color and a mild odor. Unfortunately, the outdoor hot springs don't allow for a view of the sky. The breakfast and dinner buffets offer a wide variety of options and are delicious. This hotel has a very resort-like feel and I'd definitely return if I had the chance. "This hotel, which offers two meals a day, is quite large for Kusatsu. There were ********* staff at the front desk who spoke Mandarin. Breakfast and dinner are buffets with a wide variety of food. We booked a room with a private onsen (hot spring bath), but the room was a bit cramped for a family of three. There's a 7-Eleven and a supermarket right outside, and the onsen is a short walk away. The hotel also offers a shuttle bus, though the earliest departure is at 3:00 PM. The hotel's executive lounge has pastries and drinks available from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM. There's also a private onsen area with complimentary sparkling wine. Booking a room with a private onsen includes access to the lounge and the private onsen area; otherwise, there's a charge."
