"I chose to stay at a hotel in Toyama because I was eager to see the city with its snow-capped mountains. This was my first time staying at a Nikko Hotel. The service was standardized, and I didn't feel much warmth, which also reflects my overall impression of Toyama – it has the cool, stark feeling of a northern city. "My stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Toyama was excellent from start to finish. The hotel is modern, stylish, and very well maintained. The bed and pillows were especially comfortable after a long day of traveling. The service was also outstanding. The staff were polite, welcoming, and professional throughout my stay. Check-in was smooth, and the signature warm DoubleTree cookie on arrival was a lovely touch that made the experience even more memorable. Overall, this is a great hotel choice in Toyama. Nice Japanese breakfast. Strategic location to get around Gokayama and Shirakawa. In front of the hotel is the biggest Gassho style house in Japan that has a long history of being owned by samurais and where the emporia family had visited many times and is considered a cultural heritage of Japan.. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Unazuki Station. Since there was a heavy storm that day, It was raining, so it was a bit awkward dragging my suitcase to the hotel. It was just renovated in 2023. There is a little smell in the room and the hot spring is very good! I paid extra to book a private bath. The water quality is so comfortable! The accommodation included dinner and breakfast the next day. The dinner was delicious. A male waiter could speak simple Chinese and had been to Shanghai. Basic communication was no problem. Breakfast the next day was still delicious. This hot spring area is relatively unpopular and there are not many online introductions, but it can avoid the crowds.
