"The room was good; not luxurious, but it met all basic needs, including USB outlets which saved me the hassle of not having an adapter. Cleaning was prompt and thorough. The staff were quite welcoming, and there was a young lady at the front desk who spoke some Chinese. Breakfast didn't have a huge variety, but there was enough to fill up. The pool water was clean, and they vacuumed it daily. There was a performance on Friday night. The beach is nice for a stroll, but I wouldn't recommend swimming in the sea. They have their own mini-mart, and if you turn right out of the hotel, there's a FamilyMart. A 10-minute walk will get you to restaurants, bars, and a small, not-too-busy shopping complex. Turning left, you'll find more restaurants, and a 15-minute walk leads to a food court, supermarket, and various shops. There's a bus stop right outside, and taxis are easy to get. It's about a 40-minute ride to George Town and Penang Hill, and around 50 minutes to the airport."

"The room was clean and spacious. The bed was also clean and large. The private pool in the room was clean, as was the toilet and the large, clean bathtub. It was a great stay for families. My room didn't have any Charlie ants. The only downside was the breakfast, which had a limited time slot – only an hour – so it felt rushed to get food. I would definitely repeat my stay."

"The hotel in comfy, spacious and facing ocean view. Some feedback to consider. 3rooms for 6pax. And only 1 hairdryer. They never thought that if all occupant are woman with long hair, so need total at least 2hrs for hairdryer for entire unit. 1. Hairdryer is not expensive item, each bathroom should be equip with one unit each more make sense. 2. Middle room both occupant get bedbugs. They should look into this cleanliness. 3. The washroom 6ppl only got leftover toiletpaper, and insufficient for 3days stay. They got limit to refill toilet paper even still staying in needed to use toilet paper. 4. Tv not able to get public digital broadcast, unable to watch world cup from Tv1 or 2 from the TV. TV function also not able to screencast from phone. 5. Other than that, this place is okay to stay as it has convenient store at G floor. Mercure hotel next door for breakfast."

"Stayed for two (2) night, but the room at the time we check in there are little ants below the tv, in the floor and also in the bed. We called the room service to clean up again the room, but it seems the room service is not well trained. Also in the second day, they gave new towel but the old one did not pick up we have eight (8) towels. We inform the room service because we need hand towel, but they bring towel again. We ask them to pick up the old towel. The amenities is ok, but for mineral water better hotel provide pitcher and water dispenser. Many hotels now doing that. The hotel will charge RM 1.5/bottle for additional mineral water. Small things that make us not happy. Before we stayed at Hompton, we stayed at international hotel chain in Georgetown and they provide pitcher and water dispenser in each floor. Just fill the pitcher and tumbler as much as we need. Breakfast is good, so many varieties of food and mostly all is ok. Nasi lemak is the best since 3-4 years ago I stayed there."

"Hey! Hi! We just left Penang. So on Friday 31/7/2026 we’ve checked in Bahang Bay Hotel. - The View: okay✅ - Amenities: no towels or kain lap kaki given. Just 2 bath robes. When requested, the receptionist said must wait until 7pm as they don’t have fresh stocks. This shoudn’t happen as we all need to freshen up as soon as we arrive and onto our next plan for the night. 🙂↕️ - Cleanliness: saw baby cockroach in the toilet. The shower head is loose, hard to stay in place while having shower. (Room 1112) Always falling down when we turn off the water and need to pick up, again and again and again. Troublesome. The floor at the showering area and the rest of the toilet (room 1110) berlubang lubang, kasar, tak sesuai untuk kids sebab boleh luka kaki. - Air Conditioning:"

"This hotel is truly the best – clean, comfortable, and very private. Every aspect was satisfying. Many say it has a Bali-like vibe, which might be true since I've never been to Bali myself 😅. Don't worry about parking, it's very close to the rooms, though it can be a bit challenging and requires some advanced parking skills 🤣. For food, the resort has 'Blue-Blue' and 'Red-Red' restaurants, but the prices can make your eyes water if you're an average Joe, even with a guest discount. Other than that, it's perfect! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Oh, and I almost forgot, for those who love OOTDs or taking photos, this place has amazing photo spots, no lies 👌🏼"

"The location is great, with convenient transportation. I only saw one convenience store nearby. The hotel's sea-view rooms are excellent, facing the ocean and the beach. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a fantastic view. It's also very close to the famous Dongcheng food stalls, making dining very convenient. The swimming pool is a bit small, but sufficient. Lying on the beach is also very comfortable. The room size is moderate, and it has all the necessary amenities, though some of the equipment is showing its age, such as damaged power outlets and a broken shower hose. A major issue is the lack of Chinese-speaking staff, which is something to be aware of. The efficiency of the front desk needs improvement, and the front desk and most of the service staff lack any warmth, appearing very cold and never greeting guests proactively. This Mercure hotel seems to discriminate against Chinese guests, so please be aware. The hotel breakfast has limited variety and average taste. Housekeeping is a standout – they clean the rooms very diligently and thoroughly, keeping them very tidy. This deserves praise. Remember that smoking is not allowed inside the hotel; smoking is permitted only in designated areas outside."

Regarding the facilities, I need to pay by my own self for the car parking service. They are charging RM 24 per day and I am staying for 4 days 3 nights. Do you think how much I need to pay for the car parking which they never stated that visitors or customers need to paying by ourselves. I hope that in the future, please stated very clearly that we need to paying by ourselves without inform us.

An absolutely wonderful stay! The room was spotless, comfortable, and the service from the entire team was top-notch. What made our stay extra special was the sweet surprise—a complimentary cake from the hotel for our wedding anniversary! It was such a thoughtful touch that truly made our celebration memorable. Our last hotel in Penang was in Batu Ferringhi. The hotel isn't very large, and the room facilities are a bit dated, but the experience was excellent! First, the resort layout is well-designed; despite its size, the areas are cleverly arranged, creating beautiful views at every turn. There are several swimming pools, including two for children with slides and more. Most importantly, there are staff members consistently present at the slides and by the pools to supervise and maintain order, ensuring children can play safely and securely! Breakfast was also great; although there was a queue during peak hours, the food was delicious and offered a wide variety. The beach bar also had good food, and it was lovely to relax there with the lights on at night. The best part is that the hotel has direct access to the beach and the sea! And the path from the hotel to the sea looks absolutely beautiful when lit up at night. We booked a two-story family room with a lovely balcony. The staff service was also excellent. I'm giving it five stars.

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa is an ideal choice for a vacation in Penang. The entire resort is enveloped by lush, tropical gardens and boasts a private beach. From your window, you'll see swaying coconut trees and the Andaman Sea, with the evening sunsets being especially therapeutic. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the bedding is soft and conducive to a good night's sleep. The resort's pools and relaxation areas are well-maintained. Breakfast offers a rich and diverse selection, with plenty of Southeast Asian specialties. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the hotel environment is tranquil and relaxing. There's no need to rush around; simply strolling through the gardens or enjoying the sea breeze by the beach is incredibly destressing. It's perfect for a slow-paced, relaxing getaway. I highly recommend staying here in Penang for a wonderful seaside experience.

The view from our room was amazing. For a family of 5 adults, family room is huge enough. We also had breakfast included in our room. Breakfast was good however, u can avoid sitting outside as there is quite a number of crow there. Overall, a very nice stay in Penang!

The room size was just right, and the twin beds could be combined into a super-king-sized bed, perfect for families with children. The power outlets were very compatible with domestic plugs, which was incredibly convenient as no extra adaptors were needed. While the room facilities and bathroom definitely showed their age, they were still well-maintained. The room also had a refrigerator, which is essential for the Southeast Asian climate. The hotel service was good, but most staff members didn't actively greet guests. This was a noticeable difference compared to the first hotel we stayed at in George Town, where all staff members were proactively friendly and more welcoming than at the Shangri-La. The highlight of this hotel is definitely the swimming pool, which is like a small water park – my child absolutely loved it! There's also a huge beach area with plenty of loungers, perfect for a relaxing time. The hotel breakfast was very extensive, and the breakfast hours were long, from 7 AM to 11 AM, which was excellent and allowed for ample time. Overall, the Shangri-La hotel is fantastic and a top choice for a relaxing getaway.

the location and hotel are great. the private beach is amazing. the facilities are as people said, quite dated. the aircon is noisy at night, and they charge you extra for another towel, and also make you go down to reception to get it. however, i am willing to overlook these for the amazing view. the side view is honestly good enough, especially during the day with the green.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days. The check-in process was smooth and fast, which gave us a good first impression. The breakfast staff were friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our stay. The food was decent, but it did not meet the standard I would expect from a 5-star hotel. I had requested a simple birthday celebration for my husband before our arrival and even reminded the hotel twice during our stay. Unfortunately, nothing was arranged, which was disappointing and made the special occasion feel overlooked. The room also needed better housekeeping, as cleanliness was below expectations for a hotel of this category. Overall, while the staff at breakfast were outstanding and check-in was efficient, the lack of attention to our special request and the room cleanliness left room for improvement.

I had an excellent stay at G Hotel Gurney in the Executive Suite. The suite was spacious, modern, and beautifully maintained, with a comfortable bed and a great view. It was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Penang. The hotel’s location is fantastic, right next to Gurney Plaza and within walking distance of many popular eateries. The staff were professional, friendly, and always willing to assist, making the entire stay even more enjoyable. The Executive Lounge was a great addition, offering a quiet and comfortable space to unwind with complimentary refreshments. Breakfast was also excellent, with a wide selection of local and international dishes. Overall, everything from the room quality to the service exceeded my expectations. I would definitely choose G Hotel Gurney again on my next visit to Penang and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and luxurious stay.

The location is great, with convenient transportation. I only saw one convenience store nearby. The hotel's sea-view rooms are excellent, facing the ocean and the beach. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a fantastic view. It's also very close to the famous Dongcheng food stalls, making dining very convenient. The swimming pool is a bit small, but sufficient. Lying on the beach is also very comfortable. The room size is moderate, and it has all the necessary amenities, though some of the equipment is showing its age, such as damaged power outlets and a broken shower hose. A major issue is the lack of Chinese-speaking staff, which is something to be aware of. The efficiency of the front desk needs improvement, and the front desk and most of the service staff lack any warmth, appearing very cold and never greeting guests proactively. This Mercure hotel seems to discriminate against Chinese guests, so please be aware. The hotel breakfast has limited variety and average taste. Housekeeping is a standout – they clean the rooms very diligently and thoroughly, keeping them very tidy. This deserves praise. Remember that smoking is not allowed inside the hotel; smoking is permitted only in designated areas outside.
