The hotel is located in its own courtyard right in the city center, very close to attractions like the South Gate Tower, Confucius Temple, and Ming and Qing Dynasty Pedestrian Street. It truly offers a peaceful escape in the midst of the bustling city, which made me feel very secure and relaxed – a rare find when traveling. Overall, a really comfortable and excellent experience!"

"Probably the largest hotel in Xiahe. It's a short walk to Labrang Monastery. There's no air conditioning, which might be because it doesn't get hot here in the summer. They said they had floor heating, but it wasn't turn-on yet when we checked in, and it got a bit chilly after the rain. The hotel has a restaurant, and you can order dinner, though I found it a bit pricey – I guess that's common for tourist spots. Breakfast was decent, and the cleanliness was acceptable. Overall, I didn't feel like there were any major downsides."

"The hotel's location is excellent, just a few hundred meters from Zhenning Road Night Market and not far from the subway, making dining and getting around very convenient. The entire building belongs to Mercure, which ensures easy access to services. The front desk staff, especially the ladies, were very beautiful and incredibly enthusiastic. The cleaning auntie was also very warm and helpful; she even brought my washed clothes up to my room, which was a really thoughtful touch. Overall, a fantastic travel experience!"

"My wife and I just stayed at the Dunhuang Hotel. We were incredibly impressed by the beautiful architecture, excellent service, and profound cultural heritage of this place. The hotel boasts an exceptional location near Mingsha Mountain, offering panoramic desert views from its upper floors. The entire establishment resembles a desert castle, standing majestically amidst the vast Gobi Desert, overlooking the ancient Silk Road. In the lobby, three colossal murals depict themes of the Silk Road: its people, treasures, and architecture. These murals, soaring three stories high, transport guests through ancient history, creating a truly awe-inspiring experience. The hotel's Chinese restaurant is grand, designed in the style of a traditional three-courtyard mansion. Every brick and tile, every intricate eave, exudes a Han and Tang dynasty grandeur. Yet, the wooden beaded curtains at the entrance, the exotic carpets, and various decorative details remind you that this is the empire's frontier, a vital gateway to the Western Regions. As dusk falls, red lanterns beneath the eaves and landscape lights on the lawn illuminate the castle-like rammed earth walls, casting a warm, reddish glow. The distant blue sky and tranquil desert beautifully complement each other, forming a serene and picturesque scene where beauty can be found at almost every turn. The guest rooms are equally distinctive, seemingly a fusion of Central Plain and Western Regions cultures. Most of the furniture is Chinese in style: the grand chairs, round tables and stools, stacked cabinets, and the bird-and-flower paintings on the walls all evoke an antique charm. Upon closer inspection, almost all tabletops are covered with brightly colored, exotic-style tablecloths, and large areas of the floor are laid with thick, soft, and comfortable Bohemian carpets. The lighting fixtures also often have a Western Regions flair, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, as if you've entered a nomad's home. It's worth noting that the bedside and floor lamps are adorned with frescoes of the flying apsaras from the Mogao Grottoes, a testament to the cultural richness embedded in every detail. Each room also provides a collection of books for guests to read, including the 'Dunhuang City Chronicles,' stories of the Mogao Grottoes frescoes, and the handwritten notes of the late founder, Mr. Wang Mangang. These notes recount his challenging experience of investing in and building the hotel in Dunhuang during the early days of reform and opening up in 1993, inspiring a deeper understanding and respect for this hotel. In my opinion, Dunhuang Hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a heartfelt interpretation and preservation of Dunhuang and the Silk Road culture. It left us with warm and unforgettable memories. Five-star rating!"

"I have to give this hotel a huge thumbs up! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the stylish lobby. The room is fully smart, with voice-controlled lighting and curtains – very high-tech. The front desk staff, Nianhe, was incredibly friendly, answered all my questions, and always had a smile. The front office manager was also very classy and polite, and gave me recommendations for food and attractions. The front desk even prepared a food guide and attraction guide, which was super helpful for me as a solo traveler. The made-to-order breakfast station was an extra bonus. Both the service and the facilities exceeded my expectations. It's already on my favorites list, and I hope they can maintain this level next time. Thumbs up! 👍🏻"

"We have had a very good stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room were spacious and clean. The hotel is located in the city center next to the 八坊十三巷 which makes it very convenient for a night stroll. The breakfast was good as well, especially the hand made noodles. Parking was convenient, as the hotels offers a private parking. We would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again."

"As someone who frequently stays in hotels, I found the hardware facilities to be good, but the service fell short. My overall experience was not great. Here are a few points I found unsatisfactory: 1. The communication during check-in wasn't pleasant, though they did allow me to check in early. 2. The breakfast quality was decent, but there were too few seats in the restaurant. Having to walk around with my food, searching for and waiting for a table, is something I've rarely encountered. 3. I saw food delivery drivers going directly to guest rooms multiple times. Do they not need a key card to access floors? 4. The toiletries were in wall-mounted dispensers that required a lot of force to use, especially the conditioner. This was particularly difficult for me as I had an injury on my hand. 5. I had confirmed a late checkout until 3 PM via Trip.com. I understand the front desk might not have been aware, and a simple phone confirmation would have sufficed. However, I found their passive-aggressive tone about me not mentioning it proactively to be unprofessional. I won't list other minor issues. Personally, I don't expect hotel staff to be overly enthusiastic, but they shouldn't make guests feel uncomfortable. The 2-star service rating is specifically for the two ladies at the restaurant's front desk around 9:30 AM on the 20th. They were consistently warm and greeted guests throughout my stay, leaving a strong positive impression. On the positive side, the hotel facilities are new, the room layout is good, and the soundproofing is effective. It's located near a plaza or residential buildings, so it's not noisy. The hotel is also very close to Zhangye West Station, and with a parking lot, it's convenient for those traveling by car."
