The room, while not large, was incredibly clean, spacious, and bright, with thoughtful amenities. Despite being in a traditional courtyard setting, it was surprisingly quiet at night, allowing for a peaceful rest. The shuttle driver (for airport pick-up/drop-off) was very friendly and attentive, always maintaining a pleasant demeanor and tone, even when busy – quite rare for someone so young, showing great warmth and hospitality. As for the owner, they frequently asked with a smile, ”How was your stay? Was everything good?” and enthusiastically offered advice on the local area, including safety tips. It's clear that both the owner and the shuttle driver are genuinely warm, engaging, thoughtful, and passionate people! 👍

4.5⭐️ The main highlight of this stay is definitely the location — very convenient to get around using Didi, and there’s also a 24-hour convenience store right downstairs which made everything super easy. Do note this is not exactly a hotel, it’s more of an Airbnb-style homestay. Check-in details and passcodes are communicated via Trip.com messages or WeChat, and there’s no front desk. However, the staff managing enquiries through chat were extremely responsive and helpful, especially when assisting with parcel deliveries. The room layout was spacious and comfortable, great if you prefer having more living space instead of a compact hotel room. Cleanliness was decent overall, though I do think the kitchen setup could be improved by providing more basic utensils like bowls, cups, forks, and spoons. One important thing to note is there was no air conditioning provided before May 15 due to centralized building management, which is quite different from a normal hotel experience. Another downside was the bathroom design — the bathroom window is see-through and missing curtains, which can feel awkward when traveling with friends or family. There are also many different homestay brands operating within the same building, so it’s worth comparing prices and room furniture setups before booking. Overall, still a comfortable and convenient stay mainly thanks to the great location and very responsive staff.

We stayed for one night; it's a modest hotel but clean and pleasant. We had a great night's sleep, and there were no strange odors. We even got a complimentary airport transfer, which was amazing! It's only about a 10-minute drive from the airport, which is super convenient after a flight. The staff were polite. They don't offer breakfast here, but there's a small local shop nearby.

The small courtyard is beautiful and very clean, exactly as pictured. You can tell the cleaning staff puts a lot of effort into maintaining it daily. The room isn't large but it's very comfortable, and the mattress is just right – not too soft, not too hard – making for a very relaxing sleep. Opening the door to a wall full of flowers instantly brightens your mood. There were Russian guests staying next door, along with two adorable cats. There's a parking lot and a charging station right at the entrance. The shuttle to Universal Studios picks up very close to the courtyard entrance, and the dumpling restaurant the owner recommended nearby was indeed delicious. Next time I do two consecutive days at Universal, I'll definitely stay here again!

The customer service lady was quite nice, but I do have some issues with the guesthouse: 1. Check-in time was 2 PM, but when we arrived, the room wasn't ready yet. We had to wait another half an hour for them to finish cleaning. 2. The pillows on the bed were too flat, and the bed itself was too soft, making it uncomfortable. 3. And this is the most important point: there's no need to stay overnight in this Chestnut Village. It's tiny, and even the 'mini waterfall stream' is artificial 😂. You can finish exploring and taking pictures in just an afternoon. Also, food is very expensive here; an ice cream costs 68. Although the restaurant is a bit pricey, the food itself is actually quite good. 4. There are a lot of people with dogs, and they tend to pee all over the restaurant. There's really no point in bringing kids here, as there are practically no facilities for children.

This hostel is without a doubt the very best place to stay if you want to spend some time close to the Great Wall (and you should take time for this amazing structure)! The lovely owners Jack and Xi will do anything to make your stay as pleasant as possible: rhe rooms are great and fresh, clean. Built only three years ago but in a traditional style, with a little courtyard? It has a lovely roof terrace too. They drive you up and down the entrance of the Great Wall whenever you want to go, even for sunrise and sunset. Jack knows everybody so all will go fast and smooth. Xi is always smiling and very helpful. She makes the most amazing and delicious home cooked chinese meals and great coffee. Go there!! You won’t regret it! It’s great and close to the most beautiful parts of the wall!

It is an okay accommodation for a one night stay near the airport. The room was big and clean, however all the plugs are Chinese plugs and they only provide an adaptor with a paying service that you have to scan and rent/pay, which I found a bit annoying. They did not provide bottles of water, although I saw a water dispenser at the entrance. The woman that contacted me on trip to ask me at what time my check in was and that brought me to the airport is friendly, however I do not like that the reception is always empty and that you have to call them to come and check you in/out, cause late at night people would arrive and shout in the corridor to have someone come at the reception. I read on previous comments that it was not easy to get a taxi from there at the airport in the early morning so I decided to have them organise my transportation at the airport at 5am, paying 50rmb (double the price that a normal didi would be). I know that the room is cheap, but at this point I am not sure that saving on this type of accomodation is worth it.

I was extremely satisfied with the room; it was spacious and bright, and conveniently located near Sanlitun for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. There's even a chance of bumping into my idol in Sanlitun! The subway station is right downstairs, making getting around incredibly convenient. Sitting on the balcony, enjoying the breeze, sipping coffee, and admiring the night view was simply beautiful. It was a fantastic travel and hotel experience. I don't usually leave reviews, but this time it was truly excellent and very comfortable. There were plenty of bottled water in the room. The owner is a native Beijinger who provided many travel tips, making my trip very pleasant. The guesthouse staff were incredibly attentive and helpful.

The experience of staying at Gubei Zen Courtyard is great. It is very cost-effective to visit Gubei Water Town. The courtyard is beautiful and simple, surrounded by flowers and plants. The owner's care can be felt in every detail. The hygiene is particularly clean and tidy, especially the bedding is absolutely comfortable. The female boss is very nice and took us to see the 3,500-year-old ancient cypress nearby. There is a small stream not far from the entrance of the courtyard where children can play in the water. It takes only 5 minutes to drive to Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall. I watched the drone show at night. It's so convenient! It is worth recommending to friends to stay here. I will stay here again when I come to Gubei Water Town next time.
