I want to give an objective review of this hostel. First, the pros: 1. The price is excellent. I stayed for five nights for just over 2000 [currency, e.g., ISK], which is very reasonable considering the prices in Iceland. 2. The communal kitchen and bar are very spacious and bright, making cooking very convenient. 3. The location is central; it's easy to walk anywhere within 15 minutes, and there are bus stops nearby. 4. The hostel has a minimalist, modern design, and the facilities are relatively new. The individual bed curtains provide great privacy. Now, a few areas for improvement: 1. There are a bit too few restrooms and showers, so sometimes you have to wait in line. 2. I really hope they could provide a female-only dorm, even if it's a multi-person room. My bed this time was near the door, and people were constantly coming and going in the middle of the night. Two guys snored loudly, which was incredibly disruptive, and the air quality also deteriorated. I was woken up three times in one night – it was a nightmare. 3. It would be good to separate the male and female bathrooms/showers. Having them mixed is indeed a bit unhygienic.

Very clean place far away from the city centre. The beds have no curtains but they are provided with a little lamp and a plug. Several toilets available and a short front desk opening times. I had left my luggage in the morning and the reception was locked since 4pm so I needed to dial from a foreign nr so I could collect my luggage. The staff was very kind but I would have appreciated more information on closing times. A very convenient hostel for one night if you go to the airport next morning. No supermarkets, bars, transport in the area. The central bus station is 12-15' walk, when it's not too snowed.

Fantastic location. We stayed for three nights, they provide towels, bath shampoo and hangers in room. There are side table and chairs. The common kitchen is well equipped and there are so clean. Some traveller bought food to prepare breakfast and dinner. It's so convinient to walk to city. Recommend for team building and school camp.

Check-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!

The staff of the Hostel are very responsible to solve problems for the guests. There are washing machines and dryers, and the charges are reasonable. ISK2000 is cheaper than some hostels, but the location is a bit far away from the city, and it may be inconvenient for those without a car. There is a very comfortable common area. There is also a hairdryer in the common area, so you don't have to worry about making noise to other guests at night.

I didn't make a reservation personally, but I couldn't get an email from the owner, who said self-check-in, and after another guest opened the door, I called the owner and went in. Open the part with the room number attached to each room and press the off-time key. When you check out, you can leave it in it. The entrance is not the front door, but the second floor of the next staircase. The underground luggage storage room is You have to go back to the building, not next to it. It was nice to be close to the city center and the museums

Don't press on the flowers and plants. Just a reminder. When you see a pedestrian road, cross the highway. Go directly. Don't go on the overpass. If you keep walking across it, you can see the youth hostel. It is right next to the University of Iceland sign. Handsome guy serves. The staff was great and they let us check in in advance. The female manager was also very nice. There is a very beautiful lobby and a large kitchen and restaurant in the building where we live. We were very happy living there and often cooked our own meals. Friends from all over the world are very good. Except for a young ********* couple, I remind all Chinese people to be smart when going out. Prices in Iceland are very expensive, but when you go to other people’s restaurants, you must not order a drink for only a few people. , or a meal, if you think it’s too expensive or just want to check in, just send one person in. Don’t let the Chinese face fall in when you go out. Many ********* Internet celebrities let people bring rice and doll noodles. In fact, the Icelandic pig Supermarkets have everything and are not too expensive. Iceland is a region with a shortage of supplies. Due to geographical reasons, they don’t have much time to do business, so everyone takes up other people’s resources in the summer, but only a few people can consume one meal. It’s a bit Excessive. I also participated in a one-day tour and felt that the tour guide was very professional. Please also tip the driver and tour guide, about 10 US dollars. It is not a matter of money, it is an affirmation of their professionalism. Others will be very happy, but this time When I tipped the tour guide in Iceland, he was very surprised. He said he had never seen a Chinese tip him. I said no, we Hong Kong people always tip when we see good service. Maybe young Chinese nowadays, I no longer have the heart to appreciate others' services. The tour guides in Iceland are very professional. Some of them are university teachers. They promote Iceland in the summer, so they come out to lead tours. But as he said, except for some Westerners and us, there was no one in the car. A few mainland girls paid extra tips, and the tour guide stopped at the small church where they checked in and took special care of them along the way. So if you go to other countries, you feel that the people there don't look good on you. Examine yourself, just like us Hong Kongers and ********* people who laugh at mainland tourists who go to Hong Kong and Taiwan to bring their own instant noodles instead of buying them. The situation is the same. In Hong Kong and Taiwan, consumption is expensive, and mainland tourists think it is not worth it. If you laugh at others, go to Iceland and bring your own instant noodles. Rice noodles instant noodles, then you have no right to laugh at the mainland customers

This hostel ranks among the worst I've experienced in Europe. The 4th floor is supposed to have hairdryers. On my first day, I asked the front desk and they said one should be there but it had 'disappeared'. They had spares, but never restocked them, so I had to go down and borrow one every time. Once, they even lent me two broken ones in a row. In the restrooms, I'd find one out of three stalls without toilet paper. The kitchen paper was replenished very slowly. The kitchen itself was a mess, greasy everywhere, and the sink was constantly full of leftover food dumped by guests. One night, someone had a party in the communal kitchen, smashed two glass cups, and didn't clean up, which was a nasty surprise the next morning. There was also a private party downstairs that blocked off the path to the elevator, so I had to walk up two floors just to get there. The music from the party went on past midnight. I don't know why, but the 6-bed female dorm seemed to attract 'characters'. On my first day, a white woman, upon realizing I was in the bunk above her, tried everything to get me to move. As soon as I put my bag down, before even getting on the bed, she opened the window by my head and told me to ask the front desk for a different bed because she wanted to eat on her bed (though there was no smell at all). Later that night, she opened the window again, letting the draft blow directly on my head (I woke up and closed it). The next morning, around 7 AM, she asked me why I was disturbing her sleep (seriously, what's wrong with her?). Thankfully, she got angry and moved out herself. The lockers were incredibly loud; pulling them open at night made a huge noise and easily woke up roommates. The room lighting was very dim, making it hard to see when looking for things in the morning, even with the lights on. Someone's food was also stolen from the kitchen fridge, but compared to everything else, that was a minor issue.
