"Location: About a 15-minute walk from Toyama Station. There's a convenience store, the Daiwa department store, and the Toyama Prefectural Library (Glass Museum) nearby. Overall, it's very convenient. Cleanliness: First, you need to take off your shoes when you enter. The entire hotel's hallways and guest rooms are covered in tatami mats, which is a dream for those who love tatami. The bathroom floor is made of bamboo strips, which feels much better than tiles. Every morning, you can see staff meticulously cleaning the common areas, which was a great experience. (They don't clean your room during extended stays, so be aware if that's an issue for you.) Facilities: There's a public hot spring with a large pool and sauna (also open to day visitors, but closed for cleaning from 10 AM to 3 PM). If you don't like public baths, you can enjoy a private soak in the small wooden tub in your room anytime, which is fantastic – it's like getting a private onsen experience at an economy price. The ice cream, yogurt, and massage chairs on the second floor are also a huge plus. Dining: Since I stayed for several days, I booked a room without breakfast. If you decide you want breakfast on any given day, you can just go to the restaurant, swipe your card, and pay when you leave (2500 JPY per adult per meal). It's highly recommended if you love fresh seafood, offering Toyama's 'three treasures' (squid, white shrimp, and tiny rolls), as well as various sashimi and roe for you to create your own seafood bowl. Even for someone like me who doesn't eat much seafood, there were plenty of options like fried dishes, bread, and refreshing watermelon. Overall, I highly recommend this chain onsen hotel."

"This is a very Japanese-style hotel. If you want to experience Japanese culture, it is worth staying here at least once. The staff are friendly and speak English better than the average Japanese person. Since it is located right in front of the station, transportation accessibility is not too bad. However, as it is in a small town, you must always bear the burden of Japan's expensive transportation costs when traveling to and from places. There is nothing around, so it is completely dark and scary at night except for the main roads. The area right next to the hotel is a soliciting entertainment district. Therefore, it is not a good environment for taking a walk, running, or wandering around looking for things to do at night. Instead, enjoy the late-night ramen provided by the hotel starting at 9:30 PM. Most guests are Japanese, and since there is a public bath inside the hotel, everyone washes there. There is a fierce game of ”reading the room” in the bathhouse, where you have to make room for others to avoid getting too close. It does not operate from morning to afternoon. However, the shower curtains in the in-room bathrooms are clean; although cramped, they are good for using comfortably alone at any time. For the hotel breakfast, you must choose between Japanese and Western styles along with a bar stocked with some bread and drinks. Since you cannot change the composition of the meal, there are no options other than the provided food. There is a coffee machine in the hotel lobby. However, it is unavailable from morning to afternoon, so if you are feeling lazy, please make sure to get some coffee the day before. There is an ice machine on the 6th floor, which is convenient. When taking the elevator, give each other a light nod, and once inside, keep your distance as much as possible and look in different directions. Although the elevator doors have sensors so they do not close when people are getting on or off, please press the open button even when only a single person is exiting. If you do not press the open button, you might see the person exiting pressing the close button as they get off. There are two large supermarkets nearby, but Apple Mart, located a bit further away, has a wider variety of food items and is cheaper. If you want to enjoy a variety of Japanese food at a lower price, visit the supermarket. Anyone who has visited Japan frequently for at least 10 years will be surprised by the current prices of Japanese food and the small portion sizes. This supermarket will save you from the hunger caused by Japan's excessively small food portions. This is especially true if you are a big eater...."

"Five-star rating all around! I was a bit worried the 2019 renovation might feel old, but it absolutely doesn't – everything feels very new. They offer a pick-up service from the train station, or it's just a 300m walk. Inside the hotel, there are English-speaking staff, making communication a breeze. The buffet dinner was also good. There aren't many dining options on the hot spring street; besides one BBQ place, it's mostly set menus and ramen, so the hotel buffet is a better choice. For lunch, I recommend the cafe by the entrance; both the cakes and drinks were delicious. Since we visited in winter, we didn't book the scenic train, but we did go to the ski resort, which was perfect for kids. The foot bath next to the train station was super hot and incredibly relaxing. This is a great place to stay for two nights."

"It was about a 20-minute walk to the main festival venue, but we enjoyed it without having to worry about parking. While the access was excellent for our needs, it was far from Himi Station, so we took a taxi. The hotel's restaurant is open from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and there are few restaurants within walking distance (except Uotami), but there is a 7-Eleven nearby. The hotel's large public bath is small, but it was a hot spring. There is a coin-operated washing machine near the large public bath, but it was always full, so we went to the coin laundry right in front of it. Being able to wash our clothes quickly is very convenient. The breakfast menu was typical of Route Inn, but there were also some Toyama-style items (kamaboko and firefly squid). There was a coffee machine and table seating in the lobby, so we were able to spend the time relaxing and enjoying the cool breeze even though we had a little time before check-in."

"Stayed two nights in Toyama, and Dormy Inn was my top choice. The basic amenities are pretty much the same as other locations, with all the standard toiletries, but the service really stood out. There was a ********* girl at the front desk. We arrived right as it started snowing heavily, and she not only checked us in but also offered us dry towels to wipe off – so thoughtful! We bumped into her a few more times, and she was always incredibly friendly, even recommending local sights and routes. The hotel breakfast was delicious, featuring all the Toyama specialties. And at night, the complimentary ramen even came with a perfectly soft-boiled egg; my husband polished off two bowls! The front desk also provides free tram tickets, two of them, which was super convenient. Late-night snacks included: lactic acid drink; cold drinks."

"The location is a bit out of the way, but it wasn't a problem since we were driving. Although it's an older-style inn, it was clean and tidy. There were also quite a few locals staying there. They offered snack sharing in the afternoon and evening. The most pleasant surprise was the incredibly rich breakfast. I would definitely choose this inn again next time."

"To sum it up, I'm extremely satisfied. The hotel offers a shuttle service to the Shinkansen station, which you need to arrange in advance, otherwise, you'll have to transfer to a local train yourself. The hotel is located in a small town and looks quite modern from the outside, not like the century-old building I imagined. The facilities are well-maintained, and it doesn't have that damp smell common in many onsen hotels. Upon check-in, the front desk provides a map of the hotel, showing your room location, the onsen areas (with gender and time schedules), dining spots, and so on. After checking in, someone will lead you to pick out your yukata (which you wear throughout the hotel, making onsen visits convenient). It's best to try on samples here as the sizes run large; if you pick your usual clothing size, it might drag on the floor. Then, you'll be escorted to your room by elevator. Perhaps because it was off-peak season, the hotel spontaneously upgraded us to a larger room with two big balconies. The three of us slept comfortably on a tatami mat area that could easily accommodate six. There's an indoor onsen on the basement level, separated by gender but open all the time. On the first floor and basement, there's also an outdoor onsen with timed gender separation. It's open until 11 PM and from 5 AM. When soaking, you simply place your clothes in a basket; there's a small pool area that seems to have lockers. You can't bring your phone anyway, so I didn't bring anything except my room key, the small and large towels provided in the room, and a waterproof bag. You can also bring your own skincare products if you wish. You can also pay extra for a private onsen for about an hour, but considering that in Japan, people usually soak nude, we didn't dare to try. In the morning, you hand a slip to the front desk to indicate any room amenities you'd like to change (like yukata, towels, etc.) and your dinner time. The breakfast buffet is very generous; I particularly liked the onsen eggs. For dinner, you can choose between two sittings, 6 PM or 7 PM; we opted for the latter. Dinner includes a small glass of alcohol, and you can order more drinks (not expensive) as well as steamed abalone and grilled oysters (a matter of taste, really). Everything tasted good, and the dishes were served slowly, one by one. I was so full I forgot to take pictures, so I'll just attach the translated menu for the steamed bean bun. In the evening, we visited the small, free museum (which explained the history of dam construction). The next day, we took the forest train (a little over two hours round trip, with beautiful scenery; there are lockers at the station for luggage storage). Unfortunately, I didn't realize there was a stop in the middle where you could get off for an onsen soak and then catch the train back; I'll have to try that next time. The hotel corridors display photos of famous people who have stayed there, such as the Emperor, US Presidents, and Kawabata Yasunari, along with some incomprehensible artwork to appreciate. The staff were all very friendly. The hotel doesn't have Chinese services, so I assume there aren't many Chinese tourists. Japanese communication would be smoother. You need to hand in your room key to the front desk when going out. Do note that check-out is before 10 AM. Since we had to catch the forest train, we missed the hotel's drop-off service and took a local train to transfer to the Shinkansen ourselves. The hotel is less than 1 km from the local train station. All in all, traveling during the off-peak season was both economical and provided a great experience. I'd give it 100 points this time."

"Since it's a new facility, the entire hotel was clean and comfortable. I had mentally prepared for a small room, so I was fine with it; I just had a little trouble opening my suitcase. Even though my room was next to the elevator, I wasn't bothered by people or noise. From my 10th-floor room, I had a great view of Toyama Castle Park right in front. I went to breakfast early, so it wasn't too crowded. The freshly baked bread was delicious, and I really enjoyed having the local specialty, tororo kombu (grated kelp), over rice. The hotel is also close to the station, and I was able to walk there. On the way back, I took the tram. It's very convenient and compact, making it a good recommendation for families too."
