The breakfast menu also has a lot of variety and is delicious. The hotel is not spacious but cool. Unfortunately the car park is not large enough. Overall, the Shalimar hotel is highly recommended as a choice to stay in Malang city.

The entire hotel is like a historical museum, with many old objects inside. There is free afternoon tea and Indonesian traditional snacks after 4 pm. The front desk staff is also very friendly, but I don’t know why I ordered the Executive Suite instead of giving it to me. The one I chose was Superior Deluxe because we were going to Bromo Volcano at 12am the next day and only stayed for a few hours. Generally speaking, it is worth recommending.

The hotel is right beside MOG, 1 of the biggest Mall in Malang. They also has basement connector from Hotel to Mall so you wont get wet when its rain. The hotel room is clean. If you are lucky, you can see mountain from your room. The variaties of food not so many, i have to queue for long to get my eggs ready. They have good jamu (beras kencur, sinom and kunyit asem). If you are never been to Malang, i recommended you stayed in this hotel since near to many food places such as Gang Djangrik, Pecel Kawi, Bakso President, etc.

I booked 1night stay with breakfast but the next day morning when we go to the restaurant it was closed! I ask the front office if the breakfast was closed then he said it’s open. The he call the Chef. Then we ask where is the breakfast. The Chef give us option nasi goreng or mike goreng. I was expecting buffet breakfast. Not just nasi goreng. Then we ask why. The Chef said they prepare buffet if the guest more than 10. No wonder why nobody stay in this hotel. The service is bad. I ask for coffee and it arrive without milk. Hotel without milk? But I saw the security get his coffee and it’s with milk. What kind of service is this. They cannot provide milk to their guest. My friend ask for iced tea. The Chef said no ice in the hotel. Hotel without ice???? Meaning this hotel no freezer? The container for sugar is very dirty. We complain to the receptionist but he never comeback to us if they can give milk. Then we saw another staff she said she is the admin. We ask for duty manager but she said no duty manager also. What kind of hotel is this no duty manager? No wonder this hotel like this. Nobody managing the staff. After 45mins the milk served to us after I finished my coffee. And the milk looks like they spit on it. Will definitely not stay in this hotel anymore in the future and definitely will not recommend this hotel. We stay in 4different hotel with this trip from jogja. We stay in cheap hostel to expensive hotel. But this hotel has the worst service.

Recommended.. The TV is a bit difficult to operate, so you have to call the staff to fix it. The front office is friendly. There is free bread from morning to night to keep you from getting hungry. Auf Grund der sich zuspitzenden und für uns unübersichtlichen Situation über weitere Maßnahmen der indonesischen Behörden wegen covid-19, hatten wir während unserer Bahnfahrt nach Malang beschlossen, unser für 4 Nächte gebuchtes Zimmerin Malang zu bezahlen und unverzüglich nach Bali abzureisen, um in der Nähe des Flughafens DPS Stellung beziehen zu können. Wegen der Streichung unseres Heimfluges und der ausgebliebenen Hilfe sowohl in Yogya, als auch online mussten wir uns selbst kümmern. Welches Ende wird wohl unsere Reise nehmen? Von unserer Regierung mit klaren Worten im Stich gelassen, während daheim die Bayern auf Solidarität eingeschworen worden sind, hatten wir beschlossen in dieser Nacht nach Bali zu ”fliehen”!!! Uns wurde nur die erste Nacht berechnet. Wir konnten frisch geduscht und umgezogen die Weiterreise antreten. Die Rezeption besorgte uns ein Taxi weil wir selbst keines fanden per App. Wir wollen uns an dieser Stelle nochmals für das sehr kulante Verhalten des Managers und seines Teams bedanken. Wir können das Hotel guten Gewissens weiterempfehlen! Geht einfach hin und testet selbst, nach covid-19. Am Ende möchte ich noch erwähnen, dass wir auf unserer 30 stündigen Reise von Yogyakarta,über Malang und Bangil nach Ketapang, Banyuwedang nach Ubud noch weitere Menschen trafen, denen wir gerne unseren Dank aussprechen möchten.

Overall this hotel is good. It starts from me to check in, service, hygiene & facilities, not to mention style. It made me fall in love, it happened that I was in room 140 and then I was offered a cleaning room in the morning. It's just the thing in the KM section that really has to be renoved, Yellow floors are cleaned with vixal I think it can, KM for those who bring children must be dirty because the elevation is too expensive, another trs for tissue in the bathroom please do it in the place because the water splashes are wet. The phone doesn't work, the TV is very clear, the wifi is like a 5 watt light redup hehe.. Breakfast is also enough, the menu is a bit of a crumb. But I don't understand how they're especially making salads, because they're a vegetable sauce.

We had to extend in Malang a night and then spontaneously booked the same hotel. From outside and in the entrance area a real hingucker. The room (with 3 beds although we were only to the second) has somewhat disturbed the first impression. In the large and whole, however clean but with 3 beds there is no place in the room. In the bathroom you have to take some boards (at least with us in the room): It was not quite clean for this, but a little shampoo to the board. The staff was very friendly and checked in earlier. If the price is true, you can still stay here.

This hostel is very cute and the staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. You instantly feel at home here! The location is also great, with Jodipan rainbow village a 40 minute walk or a short car/scooter ride away and lots of places to buy snacks or eat out. Most travelers go out hiking during the day but different tour groups take people out at different times so we had the 8 bed dorm to ourselves most of the time. They offer a variety of tours to see Mount Ijen, Mount Bromo, Tempak Sewu and a few other nearby waterfalls at a great price! I recommend using their tours even if you don’t end up staying there.

Staying at the Shalimar hotel was an extraordinary experience. The rooms are comfortable, clean and complete with facilities, including typical Malang snacks provided in the room. The breakfast menu also has a lot of variety and is delicious. The hotel is not spacious but cool. Unfortunately the car park is not large enough. Overall, the Shalimar hotel is highly recommended as a choice to stay in Malang city.
