Steventon House Hotel

One word Excellent, Sunny the manager/owner was accommodating with great communication as I was arranging this momentous occasion for my mum’s 80th surprise birthday weekend. Just to say what a wonderful weekend had by all at my mum’s 80th birthday. The venue, the rooms and the food were excellent. Alex and Rose did so much to help and they were excellent too, everyone complimented them on how pleasant and helpful they were, really wonderful customer service from the staff and the food, both dinner and breakfast was also excellent so compliments to the chief and the service was great too. The hotel was very comfortable and food was great. The staff Rose and Aleks were very friendly and warm and very obliging and I look forward to coming back to such a friendly place where a hotel feels like home. I would recommend to anyone to come here they will really enjoy the experience

I really didn't enjoy my stay. The room looked ok when i first went in but i quickly noticed the poor standard of maintenance. The large leak above the bath, the curtains with holes in, the kettle not working, shelves falling to bits etc My evening meal was disappointing and the breakfast was poor. There was a lack of staff which resulted in dirty tables

Rasoi restaurant is a pearl!very nice Indian food as well as good choice of drinks! Aleks and Rose make you feel home, they know how to spoil customers! Highly recommended also if you want to go outside your comfort zone when it comes to food- they will give you the best advice

A nice room, although showing a lot of wear and tear. Needs a spruce up. Could be a lot more attention to detail as there was cobwebs above the shower and by the door. The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy but didn’t stay on too long so wasn’t too annoying. It was very cold in the room went I first went in as the radiator was off. Would be nice if it would be turned on to a low setting prior to my arrival just to take the chill off. Despite these minor negatives I would stay again but would see what else is available in the area first.

A good place to stay while working in the area. Good dinner and good breakfast. The Indian restaurant on the ground floor is a good option for dinner with a good menu. The room was warm nice and comfy. Good bathroom with a good shower. Getting there by public transport is a bit tricky especially after dark, but possible.

Stayed in the hotel for one night in the family room. The room was very spacious and clean.It faced the main road so plenty to see and near the town centre. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly and the man that attends to your luggage. The restaurant attached also had friendly staff and the live music was good. Decor in the main hotel was very nice. Bathroom in the family room was dated but all worked so that’s all that mattered.

Accommodation was okay, the bar was okay but expensive. The restaurant was empty but apparently the food is amazing.

Arrived Friday late afternoon and booked here to visit friends. Really not happy about this hotel. The entrance hall and stairs to the room were dirty and smelled of cooking, which gave us the first indication that something was amiss. Once in the room initially it looked ok but on entering the bathroom the grout on the tiles round the bath and shower were dirty and a corner had black mould. We cleaned the bathroom. The surround of the sink was wood and the edge had swollen with water and had burst leaving a ragged area which at the least could trap dirt and the worse could cause an injury. The room was very cold and we turned the radiators up but they did not come on. We went to visit our friends and came back late evening still to a cold room. Next morning the heating was still not on. Breakfast was very limited with a small choice of cereal and a cooked breakfast ( no continental option or fruit) We spent the day and evening away from the hotel but on our return found the room hadn’t been serviced, the towels were still wet from the morning as the bathroom radiator wasn’t on the bed was not made. The towels were still damp the next day. We had to pay in full when we arrived, if that hadn’t been the case we would have left immediately. No one at reception in the morning to talk to just a phone number. We recommend people using an alternative hotel to avoid disappointment.
