I recently stayed at this hotel and had a highly disappointing experience. Upon arrival, I was given a room with a continuous, loud hum, as if there was a factory next door. The shower was powerless and gushed unevenly, like it had a heartbeat, taking a long time to get hot. When I attempted to order food from the advertised 24-hour restaurant, I was told by a waiter in the corridor that food was available, but when I called room service, I was informed the chef was not available. Left with no choice, I ordered a Sprite for dinner. The loud hum made it impossible to sleep, and after several unanswered calls to reception, I went down to complain, only to find the staff asleep in a room next to the reception. I showed them a recording of the noise, and they eventually moved me to another room at 1 a.m. I was surprised they seemed unaware of the issue or at least acted like they didn’t know. The new room, however, was no better – it smelled damp and mouldy, with no view except for a rubbish dump at the back, facing a wall. Though the staff try to be nice, the effort doesn’t make up for the poor facilities and services. The new room was no quieter, as I was woken up twice by people talking in the adjacent room, which was clearly audible. In the morning, the breakfast was disappointing – the options were unclear and unappealing, so I settled for cake, fruit, and juice. The breakfast staff didn’t approach to ask if I needed anything, and only after noticing my dissatisfaction did one staff member offer an omelette. I had to ask for coffee, and when it arrived, the staff didn’t even ask if I wanted it with or without milk. The staff are nice but clearly not well-trained. I checked in at 10:30 p.m. with the intention of staying for two weeks but left by 8:15 a.m. the next day. The conditions were unbearable, particularly the smell of mould in both rooms and the malfunctioning showers, which only worked smoothly on cold. Recommendations for Improvement: 1. Soundproofing: Investigate and resolve the source of the hum in certain rooms to ensure guests can sleep comfortably. 2. Plumbing: Fix the water pressure and heating issues with the showers to provide a consistent and comfortable experience. 3. Staff Training: Improve staff training, particularly in customer service and communication, so they can address guest concerns promptly and properly. 4. 24-hour Restaurant: Ensure the 24-hour restaurant is genuinely available and that there’s clarity on the services provided at all times. 5. Room Maintenance: Address the damp and mouldy smells in the rooms to improve air quality and overall comfort. 6. Breakfast Options: Clarify and expand the breakfast options, and have staff proactively engage with guests to offer assistance and beverages. Unfortunately, this hotel was not worth the money, and I cannot recommend it to anyone in its current state.
