Mare Hotel Apartments

Finally we were able to return to the Mare after 3 years our stay was perfect as before Sofia stavrula and the rest of the staff can not do enough for you they welcome you like family and their hospitality is second to none food is really good we stayed in a 1 bedroom sea view and it had been up dated we had a new shower weather was lovely already booked for next year can't wait

We travelled with a 1-year old baby and it was a great choice. The beach is two minutes away, food- superior and the stuff was very welcoming. Especially lovely Sofia, she is a great host! We felt as we were living in one greek family. It was our first vacation with a baby and I was very worried about the food but this place exceeded my expectation. Even our picky eater found plenty of delicious things to eat :) Of-course, it is not a 5-ive star hotel and there were some small defects in our rooms. But if you are not very picky traveler and looking for great atmosphere, food and sea, I strongly recommend this hotel. We are looking forward to come back again :)

Excellent place for people, who: - looking for traditional, greek, very tasty food, - wants to visit the great places and see beautiful views - Agios Nicolaos, Kritsa, Heraklion or Spinalonga Island, - want to know real Greek people and their kindness. A great base for excursions by bus, car or boat to other places in Crete. Very intimate and homely, not like big hotel complexes. For people who are looking attractions like discoteqs, big pools and animations Chania or Malia will be better. If you want to get to know Crete and its inhabitants - a very good choice. The hotel is centrally located, about 50m to stony beach and about 1,5km to not big, sandy beach. About 500m from hotel there is a lake nearby, next to streets with boutiques and local products, the biggest attraction of this city. The rooms are large and have air conditioning (they consist of two rooms - a bedroom and a room with a kitchenette and a bathroom). The pool is small - rather for children, but like I said before, the beach is realy nearby. Very nice crew - spacialy thanks to Mrs. Sophia who try to talk and help every single guest. For us Agios Nicolaos and hotel Mare Olympus is place we heartily recommend it and we hope visit again some day.

Just returned from 2 weeks staying in the mare. 5 star This is a little gem in the crown of Crete. A hotel is only as good as the staff who run it and Sofia and her staff are definitely 5 star. The hotel is a little dated but boy do Sofia and her team make this hotel special . You come as a guest and leave as a friend. Wishing you all the luck for the rest of the season.

Super atmosfera .Położenie blisko plaży. Dobre jedzenie. Hotel może wymaga juz odświeżenia, ale jest czysto. Pani Sofija - kierowniczka bardzo dbała o dobry kontakt z klientami. Byłam z nastoletnim synem i bliskość atrakcji spowodowała że nie miał czasu się nudzić.

Sadly we did not find this hotel as great as other guests did. Our room on the 4th floor had an amazing balcony, very comfy beds and pillows but so many things that need to be updated. A little time and money spent on this room will make it so much nicer Most hotels provide bottled water in the fridge on arrival, not this one. There is a kettle but you will need to bring your own tea and coffee etc. Also no tea towel or washing up liquid. Very basic but adequate kitchenette. We were all inclusive so only used the fridge and sink. The TV is placed in a corner so can only really be watched from the table and chairs not from the bed. This was not a problem for us as we don't watch TV on holiday but might be a bit annoying for some guests. The air con is great and is free. The WiFi is non existent in this room and in general we found it very poor in all areas of the hotel. The small shower room was in need of modernisation, the shower tray is small and the floor gets soaked everytime you shower which makes the floor slippy and dangerous. The shower itself was damaged. The toilet is squeezed into a small gap between the wall and shower. Could be a problem for larger guests. The sliding door and frame to the bathroom was pretty grubby on the inside. This room is right next to the lift and you hear everyone that uses it coming and going. Even the staff arriving early in the mornings. I know this is not the hotels fault but perhaps guests could be politely reminded to show courtesy to others when they are using it. There is a great communal balcony on this floor with amazing sea views but again the furniture is so dated and dirty. If modernised it would be a real asset. The pool area is very very small but clean with great views. Only 6 sunbeds and 6 chairs. The bar area is also pretty dated. The all inclusive drinks package does not include orange juice unless it is used in one of the cocktails which I find most bizarre. Also the coffee machine is not on all day. The food however was brilliant. So fresh and always plenty to choose from. The staff are all so lovely and welcoming and helpful but they could do with a few more as they are all kept so busy and sometimes the bar is unmanned while the staff are all helping in the restaurant. Agios Nikolaos is full of wonderful bars and restaurants and the hotel itself really is in a great location right next to the beach and only a few minutes walk from some great sights and shops. Sadly we will not be visiting this hotel again.

The hotel rooms and swimming pool are in need of updating. The rooms are old and tired and our bathroom [Kassos 1st floor] had an extremely small bath which you could just about shower in, with mould and cracked tiles. The swimming pool area is old and tired, with wooden decking which in some areas is loose. The swimming pool steps are screwed into the wooden decking and will soon give way...so be careful. Having said that....the staff are brilliant and work so hard. A special thanks to the wonderful Anna, Sophia and Manos for looking after our every need. The chef and his assistant worked tirelessly [names unknown] and they all glue this place together. The food was wonderful and the menu changed regularly. The cleaners were also very thorough and the whole hotel was spotless. Fresh bedding and towels were a regular feature. The location was fantastic and only a short walk to a lovely beach and the town was minutes away. The cafes around the lake are approximately ten minutes walk. Many guests were retuning visitors and we would would definitely return.

Excellent value. The perfect choice for us, a small characterful hotel in ideal location. All staff hard working, friendly, professional and helpful. Our seaview room (Kithera) recently refurbished, is spacious, cleaned every day with a very comfortable bed. We enjoy typical Greek cuisine and its here in abundance. Simple buffet style, tasty with an excellent choice. A few steps (quite steep in most directions) to both ports, this busy working town and the pretty tourist area. The small tree lined beach is 50m. Big credits to all the staff who clearly have guest's interest at heart.

I didn't want to rate this hotel as high because it is a hidden gem of Greece. The staff are fantastic, the food is really good and typically Greek, Ok the rooms could do with a little modernisation but this was Greece as we remembered it. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back.
