Generally, I wait until I get home from a trip to leave my reviews…and with nearly 600 reviews over the years, we have traveled a significant amount AND I generally leave very positive reviews…because I generally have pretty positive experiences. That was not the case with Hotel Le Pigonnet. Having read the most recent review, I had to write this review because it was obvious that person (from England) must have had the EXACT experience as us. I booked our deluxe garden view room directly with the hotel (thus insurring that all of my money went to them, not some OTA) in July, 2022 for a June, 2023 stay. Given that I booked directly AND 11 months in advance, I would have assumed that we would have received one of the better rooms in the Deluxe Garden view class. If this was one of the better, I’d hate to see worse. Despite pictures on their website for this class of rooms showing comfortable sitting chairs, double vanities and balconies our room had NOT ONE of those attributes. Our comfortable chairs where poor dining room chairs, our sink was single vanity and our balcony with view of the pool was missing…although we had a lovely view of thr lower roofs of the hotel. Now, I understand that very room is different (we owned a 16-room hotel for years), but to provide not one of the amenoties you’re picturing is flat out deceptive advertising. I’d understand if I booked at the past minute. But you’re telling me that after booking directly (to keep more money in your pockets) AND 11 months in advance, this is best that you can do? I’ve stayed in Embassy Suites in Grand Island Nebraska with more personality. Aix, Provence and France itself is all about details, charm, warm and hospitality. Out room had none of that. Take a look at the pictures and see if I’m wrong. Hotel front desk’s response to my concerns was a friendly smile and “we’ve told Paris (who apparently handles their bookings centrally) that they need to update our website…sorry, but the hotel is full.” Yep…at $600Us a night (for three nights no less, so this wasn’t some “one night stand”), we’re told”we’ll discuss it with our manager tomorrow when he’s in.” Having just come from a Relais & Chateau property in St. Paul de vence (Hotel st paul de Vence…amazing stay!! Look for the review showtly), where our deluxe room cost $150US/night LESS than we’re spending here…take my advice. Plenty of far better, cheaper and more worthy properties in the Aix area. Got there instead!!!
