Tawi Lodge

We really enjoyed our stay at Tawi Lodge, and it was very pleasant. The lodge is in good condition and is managed very professionally, the staff are very nice, and the service is very good. The cottages are extremely spacious, very clean, stylishly furnished and very quiet. You have a lot of privacy and a direct view of Kilimanjaro. You can see a lot of birds in the area and a nearby waterhole allows you to observe elephants, zebras and other animals at close range. The camp provides off-road vehicles in good condition and well-trained drivers/guides for private safaris. The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was also very tasty and plentiful. The camp also has a well-stocked wine cellar and offers a good selection of local beers. Conclusion: Tawi Lodge is definitely worth a stay.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Tawi Lodge! It was the second stop on our 10-day Kenyan safari. Everything about it was perfect. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with wet scented towels to cool down our faces. The grounds were intimate and quiet with beautiful vegetation and landscaping, exactly what we were looking for. Gladys and the entire staff were so kind and welcoming. The food was fantastic, starting with breakfast of fresh cut fruits, cereal, coffee, juice and made to order eggs/sausage/bacon. Then you got to decide between two options for lunch and dinner (both delicious). The dining area overlooks a pool and watering hole where we saw elephants, zebra and giraffe as we ate (incredible!). The rooms were spacious and private. The best part was our guide / driver Tom, who took us on morning and evening game drives in Amboseli, overlooking Mt Kilimanjaro. We saw TONS of elephants, lions, hippos, flamingoes and even cheetah! We also visited a Maasai village and got to meet and interact with the Maasai people. Tom took such good care of us. We loved him! Every time we returned from a game drive we were greeted with the same wet scented towels (a small gesture that felt SO good every time after being in the heat and bush). One special highlight was traveling to the nearby conservancy to see Craig, one of the biggest tuskers and celebrities in Kenya, it was a once in a lifetime experience! We also had an amazing bush breakfast and “sundowner” with drinks and snacks in the bush as we took in the epic sunset. If you plan on traveling to Kenya, you have to see Amboseli National Park (especially if you love elephants) and you MUST stay at Tawi lodge! This is an amazing lodge. The "tents" do have some actually walls and are extremely spacious. We had a huge bedroom and bathroom and a large soaking tub. The food was amazing!!!! The staff was even nicer. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Elizabeth is the best and always made us feel happier when we chatted with her. The water hole by the lodge is the very best!!! Our first day there we sat down to lunch and a herd of elephants came to the watering hole to drink. WOW!!!! This is a very romantic place with all the candles and not too many guests. I wish it was located in the park. Sometimes there were delays at the gate to enter the park, no fault of the hotel or guides.

You have to choose this lodge for your stay ! The staff is really smiling , the food is excelle by and you can see all the animals inside the Tawi lodge . You don’t need to go out but you could ! The view of Kilimanjaro is magnificent! Don’t hesitate and go immediately to tawi lodge

Tawi Lodge is an absolutely unique and marvelous experience. The place is ecological, beautiful, surrounded by wild life and all the staff are top ! They do the best to make your stay unique and listen to each desire and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you profit a maximum. I dream to return !

This was the first of our trips beyond Nairobi and from the moment we began to descend in our small plane, we realised what a special place Amboseli would be. Our guide, Moses, approached us within minutes of landing. His kindness shone from the moment he introduced himself and welcomed us to the park. Throughout our stay, Moses looked after us as if we were family and had known each other for ever. He was strong, loyal and just the loveliest person, we felt honoured to meet him and were very sad when it was time to leave. His knowledge was very helpful, we learned so much from him and began to understand the joy and the pressure of living and working here. Moses read our needs well, understanding our limitations and designed our days to match us so well. We met many lovely people at Tawi, being greeted throughout the day with such warmth. We loved every aspect of Tawi from our beautiful cottage, number 7 to the wonderfully satisfying meals we enjoyed each day. We had every need met by our accommodations . Well presented and cared for with additions such as a fireplace. The chefs, kitchen and waiting staff are to be congratulated. Kenya is very meat oriented but we also enjoyed fish and delicious vegetarian dishes too. The salad dishes were varied and inspiring, I have made several since we have come home. The gardens around the central areas are so well cared for. There is nothing like sitting for lunch watching elephants eating and drinking too! We spent many hours laughing, smiling and learning, feeling safe in the care of everyone at Tawi, but especially in Moses safe hands. The wildlife is varied but the elephants spectacular. Seeing so many large families was quite overwhelming and the highlight was probably meeting Tusker Craig on Tawi conservancy. We saw everything we hoped for and so much more. The landscape is so varied with dusty plains, dry and rugged tracks and mountain stream fed swaps brining light relief for the animals. We felt blessed to see Kilimanjaro, a magnificent sight. Do not for a moment hesitate to book your stay.... I've done the research for you! Tawi is certainly one of the best safari lodges in the Amboseli. From check-in to check-out you will be so well taken care of by the entire staff. The rooms are so spacious and lovely. You will find it hard to believe that such an oasis exists in the middle of nowhere! The property is just lovely. We stayed for 5 nights and we were so sad when it was time to leave. As lovely as the property is, your safari adventure will exceed your expectations. I cannot begin to convey how exciting it is. Our guide Wilson is one of the best guides we have ever had [this is our 4th safari]...his knowledge, kindness, and ability to find the elephants, cheetahs, hippos, etc. at all times were outstanding! He knew how to position us to get the best photos/videos of the animals. He even knew when the clouds were going to clear so we would see the peak of Kilimanjaro which was magical! Your guide is really the most important part of a successful safari and we hit the jackpot! The watering Hole on the property is amazing. The array of animals that come and go is so entertaining. We watched as a huge elephant played in the water and rolled in the mud. Animals come and go all day long. The food, ambiance, and service were top-notch. I would be remiss if I did not mention how lovely and helpful the staff was...they treat you like family. A HUGE thank you to Ann, Jane, Joanne, Dominique, Benjamin, Peace, Paul, Abigail, Marcy, Titus [bar tender extrordinaire], and Ibrahim the wonderful chef. Once you visit Tawi and the Amboseli you will always find a way to return.

We loved our stay at Tawi! Even before we arrived, the team were incredibly helpful and patiently answering all our questions. They also organized the transfer to our next destination and from that destination to another destination! The place is stunning and the rooms are beautiful with a lot of nice touches. You can see Mt Kilimandjaro from the deck in front of your room. It’s magical! The food was great and the service was impeccable. Everyone is very friendly and attentive. The activities are just amazing and the team was very flexible and went above and beyond to deliver the best experience possible. Our guide was Tom and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, is great at spotting animals and always got us in the best viewing position. We enjoyed every second of our stay!

We stayed at Tawi Lodhe for a couple of days and our stay was amazing. We enjoyed 3 safari rides, our driver was an excellent guide, he was very knowledgeable regarding animals whereabouts and their habits and was very excited to share with us. We saw the lions, hippos, elephants, hyenas, jackals and other wildlife. At the lodge we enjoyed the cuisine & spa, and the best sunrise ever with mount Kili right in front of our tent!
