Hotel 4 U Saliya Garden

We arrived here and the initial impression was very poor. The entrance looks like a building site - if this was cleaned and sorted then the impression would be much better. The pool was large and the main positive for this place. The rooms were clean although there were no lamps, no tea or coffee and the room was very basic. For the same price we had much better stays in Sri Lanka. We ate here in the evening as this place is some way from the main areas and this was also poor. We had hoped this would be a redeeming feature. It was not, although to be fair the hotel had very few guests. This place has potential if the gardens and site was cleaned up and more effort made. There is rubbish and an array of broken carts, chairs etc hanging around. We were very disappointed here. We did find the staff friendly and helpful. I think this could be very good with some changes and a good clean up.

Terrible service. Badly managed hotel. Rooms are somewhat ok but Restuarent and outer area very unclean.Very unprofessional service. Some staff may be the owners don’t know how to behave and use their language in front of the guests. We were really embarrassed.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and we were so sad to leave this beautiful place! All staff was so friendly and the swimming pool was the best we’ve had during our journey in Sri Lanka. The owner of the hotel also supports great projects for animals and he has a very nice dog called “Kay”. He was really the star of the hotel 😁 Rooms are clean with airconditioning and breakfast is good. Anuradhapura town is 5-7 kilometers with car/tuktuk but that was no issue for us. You will enjoy such a quiet place surrounded by nature after exploring the crowded city. Definitely recommend this address!

April - May 2022: We visited with my mum and dad who live in Sri Lanka and since they are feeble on their feet it was very hard for them to climb the stairs to the dining room. But the staff and the owner were so incredibly helpful and individually brought all the food and cutlery, plates, drinks and tea down and set up the whole thing for each meal on the table and chairs outside our ground floor room. I love the fact that they use their own produce to cook and all the staff are so accomodating and welcoming, one phone call and they would come and help with whatever you need. Since we go to visit the Sri Maha Bodhi very early in the morning, they prepared and served us tea 5.30am in the morning before we had to leave. The hotel itself is wonderfully built and designed, feels so homely and amazingly, the owner used his own materials and recycles everything. The fact that the garden is so spacious you can spend alot of time outside. But the standout of everything is how down to earth the owner is, you can have a chat to him about anything! He is so friendly and accomodating. He even gave my daughter a fruit "anodha" from his garden to take home. My whole family was so touched by their hospitality we could not wait to come back whenever we visited Anuradhapura.

The pictures are not true, the hotel is still under construction. Very bad place overall. Though the room is nice, it has not been cleaned in a LONG time. Pictures are misleading. Scrap junk is almost all over the place. It's very hard to find especially in the night. Not recommended.

January 2023 - this was our second visit to Hotel 4 U Saliya Garden and I'm so glad we came back! The staff were just as inviting and friendly as I remember them, attending to our every need and request. The breakfast provided was so delicious and they served so many yummy fruit drinks made from the garden on site! My favourite was the watermelon drink that I had been waiting to have again since the first time I stayed here, the pineapple drink they served before breakfast was delightful as well!! The food options are all mouth-watering and the portion sizes were generous. Everything in the rooms was very comfortable and I instantly felt at home. The facilities were all very well maintained and the staff were incredibly hospitable in every way. The most notable accomodating thing they did for us was set up a space below the main dining area (which is above ground) for my grandfather who cannot climb steps easily. For every meal, they took the time to clean and set up the area below the deck for us to sit and eat there just like anyone else and my grandfather was incredibly appreciative. The owner was one of the most wonderful people I've ever met. He is very passionate and does a lot of charity work throughout Sri Lanka and Anuradhapura. He takes the time to talk to everyone, particularly my grandfather who loves to talk and get to know people. When we mentioned to him that we were going to donate and give out food parcels and kids' school items for poorer families, he also mentioned a woman whose family needed help and also gave us the number of a place where lots of kidney dialysis patients were living and in need of help. Because of him we were able to visit this place and spend some time with the patients, get involved a lot with charity for them and we are forever grateful for that. The owner is also very environmentally friendly and has installed a lot of solar panels to not just save money but also help the environment! When visiting Anuradhapura I never have to look for a place to stay anymore, I know without a doubt that this is where I want to be.

Really nice place. I came with my family we were 15 people. Beautiful pool. The double deluxe rooms are very cosy with a balcony view to the pool! The sri lankan breakfast is so so tasty. The staff is friendly and helpful I had Shehan on the phone for the reservation who was really kind. Sanath at the restaurant is very helpful and did everything to please to our requests on table Highly recommend this place for your visit of Anuradhapura

The hotel is set in the countryside, but not many minutes away from the town by tuk-tuk. For our two night stay it was ideal. They have a good restaurant at reasonable prices and it’s not far to the main tourist sites. Our room was reasonably large with a good balcony. Loved the huge swimming pool. It’s a little ragged round the edges, but that’s typical of so many places here. It’s a family run place and the owner couldn’t be more welcoming. We had a good stay.

This hotel has a uniq atmosphere. The host is really kind and helpful. The garden is tidy and dense with greenery. The room is clean, comfortable and well equipped. Any request was fulfilled. The breakfast is delicious. In the evenings you can play pool billiard, or having a nice party in pool.
