The impeccably appointed William Waters House resides in the upscale Irvington neighborhood, a national historic district noted for remarkable architecture, and just one block from one of Portland's loveliest parks, the 16 acre Irving Park, into which our street dead-ends. Irving Park features tennis and basketball courts, children’s playground, open fields and wooded, rolling hills. You'll enjoy a very spacious, renovated, 1st floor apartment, with living room, dining room, kitchen, one bathroom and two bedrooms with king beds, plus a bonus side room with daybed. Please note, that while this is a generously sized apartment on the 1st level of a historic home, there is a strict 5 guest maximum, and parties are strictly prohibited. An extra guest fee of $20 per night is added for each guest beyond the first two. Check-in time is anytime after 3:00 pm, and check-out time is 11:00 am on the day of your departure. Our cleaning schedule is tight, and the hours between check-out and check-in are necessary in order to thoroughly clean between guests.Additional Guest Fee: Please note that there is a $20 nightly fee per guest after the first two guests.Parking:Free parking is available on the street in front of the house. There is a 2-car limit for guests staying the night. Respect for Neighbors:The William Waters House is on a quiet residential street and we have amazing neighbors on all sides. We strive to maintain positive relations with them, so for this reason we ask that you respect house rules around the 9-person maximum, noise level and parking.Interaction with Guests:We enjoy meeting guests upon your request but also understand and respect your privacy. We are usually nearby, and always available by text or phone to address any needs you have.Other things to note:The apartment is the entire first level of a 3-story historic home and the upper levels of the home are separate living quarters that we live in. While generally very quiet, there is some minimal sound transference. Quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am. Again, parties are strictly prohibited. Security Camera: There is a motion-activated security camera on the front porch directed toward the sidewalk which can record audio/visual. The field of view is limited to a small section of the front porch and out toward the street. The Irvington neighborhood:Our location provides the best of both worlds. We are uniquely situated very close to downtown and hip east side neighborhoods, while also being tucked away on a quiet residential street next to a park. Our neighborhood, Irvington, is an upscale, historic, architecturally splendid area, great for quiet walks or for getting downtown in a heartbeat. Our basement is a remodeled guest suite, with its private entrance. At the bottom of the entrance you'll find a few umbrella's hanging on the coat rack for your use. This place has excellent walkability to great eats, bars and boutique shops. The nearby MAX makes Portland easy & accessible, no car needed. Popular nearby destinations are Convention Center and Moda Center. We are a 10 min drive from downtown (15 min MAX ride). You'll love that our location is central. Our place is good for couples, friends, business travelers & families. (Note: lower ceilings. Light and bright one bedroom apartment located in the heart of southeast Portland's Foster-Powell neighborhood. Private, with a separate entrance, a full kitchen, cozy living and dining rooms and washer/dryer. The apartment is located in the basement and is about 700 sq feet. It has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed and the couch in the living room pulls out into a queen-sized bed. Can accommodate up to four people. Great for families and friends (but may be a tight squeeze for four adults).A short walk to some of Portland’s great restaurants, coffee, shops, parks, and public transportation (connecting to downtown and airport). Close to Reed College, Mt. Tabor, and the Gorge. Large yard, quiet neighborhood, and ample street parking. Our home is in a quiet residential neighborhood within walking distance to the commercial business district on Foster Road. There is a nice park on the same block as our home. The apartment is in the basement and is accessible by the private entrance on the side of the home. Due to the stairs, it may not be a good option for people with mobility issues or very young children. Feel free to ask me for more details if you are wondering if it’s a good fit for you. The house is on a corner and surrounded by hedges, making it very private. There is ample street parking. There is AC and heat but no separate thermostat in the apartment. It stays very cool in the summer. For the cooler months there is an oil filled radiator for use if you'd like it a little warmer. There is a large smart TV in the living room, fast wi-fi, a full kitchen, and a washer and dryer. This is a true one-bedroom apartment, not a studio. There is a bedroom with a door that closes for privacy.The entire basement is yours to enjoy. There is a small patio table and two chairs outside the apartment door. You can hang out in the yard if you’d like as well.We are an active four-person family that lives in the home upstairs. We are mindful of our footsteps but be aware this is a 100+ year old home and there may be some noise. Please let us know if there are any issues.We welcome your well behaved dog but please do not leave the dog alone in the apartment at any time. We charge a small pet fee to ensure the apartment is thoroughly cleaned of pet hair between guests. Any further cleaning or damage caused by a pet may be subject to an additional cleaning fee. We have only had one such issue and hope it remains this way. The garden suite is a private, cozy studio suite with private ensuite bathroom, it's own private entrance and private arbored deck overlooking a quiet garden in a quiet neighborhood convenient to the airport, neighborhood restaurants and bakeries and cafés, and many regional amenities. The carrera marble bath tiles are heated for winters, and the deck and garden have seating areas for summer. Like a little hotel room, this queen-bed studio suite is ideal for 1 or 2 who would like an entirely separate space, but don't need a full kitchen. The room features microwave, mini-fridge, teakettle & basic flatware - ideal for simple breakfasts or reheated leftovers.This suite is attached to the back of our rebuilt victorian home, and was specifically designed with a separate entrance and a small hotel-room-like space for your privacy and independence. The suite is off of our Southern-facing garden, away from the street, with your door opening off of your own arbored deck with cafe table and chairs overlooking the garden. This suite is perfect for travelers who, not needing a full kitchen, prefer a private and well-appointed bedroom and bathroom to call their own during their stay, with a private entrance and deck that allow for independent check in and check out and all of the amenities that you would expect in a higher-end hotel room, including snacks and refreshments, tea and instant coffee, a microwave, mini-fridge, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, fresh towels and bedding and thoughtful, simple furnishings. The room and deck face south and east, with a lot of natural light and air.
