The Bell Hotel Aylesbury

I stayed at The Bell for one night in September 2024. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with a really large walk-in shower. The decor and furniture were recent and in good condition. The guy who checked me in was friendly enough, but I wouldn’t have known he was staff as he was in casual dress and had been socialising at the bar when I first arrived. No food was available on the night I arrived, there apparently being something wrong with the kitchen. However, I was told that breakfast would still be available from 0800 the following morning. The downstairs bar/restaurant area looked like a slightly tired Wetherspoons, which is essentially what it is; little, if anything, has been done to the place since it was sold by JDW in May 2022. There were a couple of groups of ‘unique characters’ in the bar when I arrived, who had fortunately moved on when I returned in the evening. Breakfast the following morning was a pleasant surprise, with plenty of decent coffee and a really nice full English cooked to order.

We travelled here to visit Harry Potter world which only took 10 mins in the AM so it was a great location for us. We arrived late (after 9 pm) and the bar / restaurant area was very busy so we were excited to try the food and drink. We had a family room which was HUGE made up of a huge double bed, not sure if it was king or queen size but it was huge! And a fold out so far bed. The bathroom was small with only a shower but it was fine for us. After out late arrival we were worried the restaurant would not be serving food but we're happy when the staff gave us some options. We had the pie, steak and fish between us and the food was fantastic, considering this may have been one of the last meals they made of the night I wasn't expecting sure great quality. Lots of drinks selections too, we really enjoyed our evening. The staff were very friendly and happy we felt very safe and welcome here. I am upset we live so far away and can't visit regularly but will definitely come by if we are in the area.

I don't recommend this place at all. I went here with my 2 daughters and when we first came in a man said to us, "what are you 3 girls doing here at a place like this" it is a dodgy place. The food wasn't nice and the walls need to be more soundproof as we heard what the couple next to us were doing. Not ok. There were kids outside ruining the plants and the person who checked us in shouted at this old man. The water for my tea was cold and it took about 15 minutes to be ready. However the bedrooms were in good condition.

Awful. walls aren't soundproof, knifes and forks had dust and food on them. Workers or costumers weren't friendly. some creepy man kept looking at me and I felt very uncomfortable. The worker saw but did nothing. Then another worker shouted at this innocent old man and kids. Rooms were dirty and the food was disgusting. Tea and coffee was cold.

The room was lovely perfect for us, a bit hot but staff gave us a fan no problem. Staff/housekeeping all lovely and friendly. Breakfast was very enjoyable too, plenty of choice of hot food from menu, cereal, croissants and fruit, tea, coffee and orange juice from continental. We would be happy to stay again when we are back .

Karaoke DJ hasn't got a clue kept putting wrong songs on way too loud when he's talking thinks he's all that . Sings with every singer much better karaoke nights in town won't be coming again for karaoke untill there is a better DJ who knows what they are doing

A typical britsch hotel. Old but very nice. I loved it. Room and service were very good. Room and bath were clean. Bar area was also very nice. Breakfast was very good as well. I would come back for next business trip. I felt very welcome. Thank you.

The room was fine and better than most other pub type accommodation. We stayed 2 nights (Saturday and Sunday) and unfortunately the maid forgot to service our room. Breakfast on the 2nd morning wasn't available because the kitchen was broken so we paid £24 across the road instead. We are relaxed travellers and can tolerate this, but when I asked for the checkout time, I was told it was 11am. I explained that we had a taxi booked for the airport at 11.30am, the lady said that that wasn't possible because they had a full check out and check in so we had to be out by 11am. This was a Sunday evening and I simply don't believe it and they were just being awkward. Also surprised that the bar in a UK pub closed at 10.30pm (very strict even though there was plenty of people wanting drinks). Anyway, prepare yourself for a Basil Faulty type experience.

Clean room,toiletries ok and good selection of tea, coffee etc. it is a run down pub without anything else that makes you feel you are in a hotel. You have to order breakfast in the pub, a greasy fry up. We waited about 10 minutes standing at the bar waiting to order as they were chasing the one other couple there to check they had paid when they booked. They tried to charge us twice as we had paid on booking. The card machine wasn’t working when we arrived and ten minutes later there was a knock on the door looking for payment after we had been asked to come and pay in half an hour or so. At breakfast we were served lukewarm tea and when I took it back the girl behind the bar with purple hair didn’t know where you got hot water from. It was awful, no tables laid just sort yourself out. It says there is parking but there isn’t. We found a car park nearby but we’re directed by the pub manager to one two minutes drive away but ten minutes walk away. We only picked the place because it had parking.
