Schmidtburger Hof

The hotel is a out 45-60 mts from Mainz and Wiesbaden and therefore well situated for city visits and peaceful evenings. Rooms are simple and straightforward but very comfortable, the location is perfect for peaceful surroundings and long summer walks around he vines. The restaurant is great, good food and of course local wine is offered, good value and a good wide selection to suit many tastes. I can imagine sitting outside in the summer, in the variety of cozy corners with a glass of wine, must be dry relaxing…. The only gripe is the inconsistency in hot water during a shower…a) it is not hot and b) during use it kept going cold. Of, and following a great dinner the breakfast feels a little bit of a let down, very small and not specifically memorable with a little choice, no labels for milk, juice, yoghurt, meat, a only egg for warm….

Somehow I expected more….the great stuff: the hotel is set in a tranquil and beautiful village in the middle of the Wine region about 45-60 mts from Wiesbaden and Mainz. Really perfect. It had a very good evening restaurant with traditional foods and own wine and it is set out cozy corners and seats dotted around the garden, which I can imagine are super in the Summer….. But_ I know we did not expect luxury but we are paying more than €175 per night and frankly it is too much. For that I could have had a great hotel room in the old town in Mainz. Here we got a quite basic room, it is cold outside, well under -5 Celsius and our shower is barely hot enough and keeps going cold every time someone else uses something in the system. After a good dinner, the breakfast is a tiny, basic and loveless disappoin**ent, nothing special at all. All of this combined to leave a rather disappointing feeling….I won’t race back, there are plenty of other similar places…..

Ein schöner alter Hof lädt mit zuvorkommendem Personal und lauschigen Plätzen zu gutem Wein und Essen und nicht zuletzt zum Verweilen ein. Drinnen und draußen ist es sehr gemütlich und Familien sind willkommen

Wir waren zu viert essen und saßen im schönen Ambiente des Innenhofs. Alles in allem hats auch gut geschmeckt, die Speisenauswahl könnte jedoch ein klein bisschen kreativer sein. Nicht ok war, dass mein Mann ein 3-Gang-Menü bestellte und er, als er das Dessert auf Nachfrage haben wollte, erfuhr, dass es "aus" ist. Das muss man dem Gast vorher mitteilen, denn leider standen nur noch der Affogato und Geeister Cappuccino zur Auswahl, was eh auf der Karte ist und kein gleichwertiger Ersatz bzw. das Dessert hatte mit den Ausschlag gegeben, dass das Menü gewählt wurde. Ebenfalls nicht ganz so happy waren wir mit den Spritzvariationen "Quitte"und "lavendel". Quitte sehr süß und bei beiden fehlte der Pep.

Gutes Essen und nette Bedienung. Allerdings nicht billig, weshalb man vorsichtshalber auf der Speisekarte keine Preise zeigt. Jeder kann diese Preise nehmen, die er braucht, dennoch sollte man diese nicht nur bei ausdrücklicher Nachfrage verraten.

voor ons een heel goed hotel, met een goede bediening, goede kamer met terras, lekker gegeten, arrangement Wanderlust dat heel goed meeviel, Mooie, rustige streek die uitnodigt om te wandelen, te fietsen ( enkel de Nahe-Radweg richting Idar-Oberstein was een ontgoocheling ).

Wir waren heute endlich, nach langer Corona-Pause, wieder im Schmidtburger-Hof und hatten eine Tisch im gemütlichen Innehof! Es hat wieder alles gestimmt,super leckeres Essen, freundliche & flotte Bedienung, tolle Weine, genialer Nachtisch, einfach alles top. Wir sind immer wieder begeistert, was das Team auf die Beine stellt. Unser Lieblingsrestaurant im Nahetal ist immer einen Besuch wert!
