This is a wonderful Hotel. We are getting married and had our reception dinner there as well as put family up there for the night. The service, staff, food and facilities were great. Will most certainly recommend this place to anyone.

Just returned from attending a friends 50th birthday party weekend at this hotel ……such an amazing experience !! From the girls on the front desk and office to the bar and restaurant staff …all so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble to accommodate all our requests with regard to making the birthday party go with a bang !…….. Estella the events manager is simply a Wonder Woman !!……great organisation with such finesse and genuinely a beautiful soul . Michael the General Manager is very hands on throughout the hotel and always visible making sure all guests are happy . Their attention to detail is invaluable . Got to mention …..Jacinta ,Averil ,Niall ,Kyle ,Stuart ,Ginta ,Filip ,Rafa ,Martin the Hairdresser …….amazing people . Would highly recommend staying here and The President Suite is fabulous and the food and cocktails are outstanding ! Thankyou to Michael and all the team for an amazing stay and for your hospitality . We will look forward to returning to Ballinasloe . Best wishes Jayne & Adam

We attended a family function here, and the welcoming, friendly, helpful staff looked after us very well, which is amazing because it seemed that there were so few of them. It has a spacious feel. The food was good. We would be happy to return.

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was a good size and was absolutely spotless. There was a music in the bar on the Saturday night and there was a great atmosphere. Only for the weather I would have thought I was abroad. We will definitely visit the Shearwater again.

I've stayed here before and it was a bad experiance but as I was attending an event in the hotel I thought I would try it one more time. That was a mistake!! First off I have to say the receptionist was a lovely girl and very friendly and the waitress that served us in the restaurant was so friendly and helpful, I cant say enough good things about her. Now for the rest. We went into the restaurant to book a table for that evening. After standing there for 10mins I approached the maître d' and asked if he could assist us with booking a table. He he didn't even answer me he just walked over to the book and said room number, after booking he asked do vou have a voucher, I said no and he just tutted turned and walked off. Very rude man! The room was clean and the bed was ok. The breakfast was nice. The main issue was from the moment we arrived until we left to go to our room for the night we were surrounded by a large group or male clientele (if you could call them that) shouting at each other, fighting, arguing about how fast their horses were in the sulky races. This went on all evening. When I mentioned it to one of the staff they told me "you should have been here last night, they were fighting everywhere and we had to shut the bar, it's just a regular weekend here" I can honestly say I will never return!!

Very disappointed in the ShearwaterHotel. We were allocated a wheelchair friendly room. My husband recently had a back operation and is unable to stoop. I explained to the receptionist that my husband would be unable to use the wash hand basin. I requested another room which would be more suitable but I was advised that they could not facilitate us. I saw several other guests checking in after we arrived so I can’t understand why they could not allocate us another room. We made the reservation several weeks ago so it was not a last minute thing.
