Site on the water is great and it must have once been a great hotel, but our experience with 20 people staying one night this last week-May 2024- was so disastrous that we wanted to warn any future travellers- STAY AWAY for 6 months at least till they right the ship. They are taking water, metaphorically. Hilton left May 16 and we arrived in the aftermath, the staff seemed friendly at first but had no clue how to cope with the system change, ( poor things) and continuted to make mistake after mistake with our booking, losing our room list, giving the wrong room to the wrong person, giving four people one bed and one person, two beds, telling us breakfast was not free, when it was, but then, breakfast was famine rations, telling us each bed had an extra trundle bed, which it didn't, charging guests without cars for parking, refusing to give us receipts, telling a guest who needed a business space to work in, sorry, having us wait and wait to do the credit card for 7 rooms all over again, at the check out, presumoing that we were there to fix their mess, and with all of this, being rude, evasive, blaming, aggressive. and telling us we had to fix their blunders, which we did, but boy oh boy, Hilton might have got rid of a lemon at the right time. For whoever is running it now, be warned, the staff seemed disinterested in hospitality and more interested in hostility? Customer Service???What is that? The overall memory of my team of dedicated volunteers who came to Baltimore for training and to fall in love with the city, I am sure, did, but they and their friends will be taking a big swerve from Pier 5 Hotel, whoever is owing it by then. Our stay was an episode of Fawlty Towers with Basil but no laughs. We should have stayed at Hyatt Place or Courtyard Inn- they know what they are doing. We will be back, but not here.
