Sonder Los Arcos

There was a flood on our first night. We were woken up during the night with flooding and everyone had to leave. We then sat in a lobby of a sister hotel for 2 hours in the middle of the night. They finally got us a room at a hotel very far away. This was an issue because we booked a hotel in the area all of our things were in. They felt they upgraded us so that we should just be happy. But we didn't book their sister hotel for a reason. We had to spend so much more time and money walking back and forth from the new hotel to our plans. In addition, our clothes and shoes were wrecked by the flood. I realize the hotel didn't do this on purpose, but it's part of running a business: I paid a premium to stay where I booked, I could have paid less to be in a different area. We also were completely exhausted after no sleep that night. Nothing was offered OH and we had to pay for our own taxi to the new hotel. We had to ASK for compensation. What did they give us! The night we were not in the room due to floods. That's it. I asked for compensation due to the room being in a bad location and our clothes/shoes being wrecked. They told me "sorry we gave you one night free". Ahem we didn't have a room so you better have given us that night free!

The room was nice, recently renovated, and well-kempt. However, the layout was tight and could have been designed better. The shower has no real rim so the water leaks out onto the bathroom floor. We had to use towels to mop up water after each shower. There was no place for us to hang towels. The counter in the bathroom was small and there was no shelf above it so we had limited space to put our toiletries. The bed was extremely loud. Every move we made made the boards under the mattress creak. There were no luggage racks. There were way too many light switches controlling the lights which made it difficult to turn on/off the lights we wanted.

Our room was beautiful and well taken care of during our stay. Customer service was 10/10! Location is great for walking and restaurants. Main complaint is the street noise. You could hear everything going on outside at all hours including loud yelling, club music, and any other movement or construction. Even with earplugs, the sound of the bass from the club kept me up until 7am, then as soon as it stopped, the sound of the street cleaners and workers was next. If you are a heavy sleeper, this place is fantastic, but if not, I would look into a quieter area. If this hotel could look into sound proofing the windows, it would be perfect!

If you’re looking for that authentic *medieval* Gothic quarter experience, this is the place for you! When we arrived, we were greeted by a strong stench of *raw sewage.* No staff available to resolve the issue. Fun for the whole family!

Our room was very clean and the beds were nice and comfortable. Hotel staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and super efficient. We truly enjoyed our stay!! Thank you so much! - It was difficult to shower without wetting half the floor. Perhaps extending the glass wall or enclosing the whole shower door/area.

What a wonderful location! Plaça Reial is tremendous! The food and atmosphere were just wonderful. And, yet, it was so quiet on our patio! It was so nice to enjoy the morning/evening there. The walls are a little thin as we heard hall noise. The bed is quite firm because it is a platform bed - no boxspring. But, we slept well. Be careful with the shower. The glass wall is not long enough, and the shower flooded the floor every time. The bathroom was huge! The room also had a safe and a refrigerator. Housekeeping was great. The hotel is spotless. And they communicated very well through the app. We are thrilled we chose Sonder Los Arcos for our stay in Barcelona. Gracias!

I had to travel to Barcelona for business and chose Sonder Los Arcos due to its few but high ratings. When my cab dropped me off, I found out that there was no car access to the street where the hotel is located hence a 200m or so walk is required to get to the building. Entry to the building and to the room is by using an app and there is no front desk or staff anywhere to be seen. Eventually I found out that the only staff is what appears to be a maintenance guy. I arrived during the day and the neighborhood seemed to be fun with many restaurants. By night, my drama at this hotel began. The noise of drunk people chanting and making all kinds of loud noise until the early hours of the morning are not tolerable. The noise resembled chants of spectators in a football stadium and the feeling was that my bed was in the center of that. Noise from within the building (closing doors, elevator, etc) is also loud. Sound insulation of the building is very poor for such a location. Upon contacting customer support via the app to ask for another room, I was told there was none and was provided with ear plugs and a device that makes other sounds to suppress the noise from outside. I elected to try to sleep with the sound of a river from the device… good luck. In the morning when I looked out from my balcony, there were many people, drunk or under the influence on something that were sleeping all over. Some walking guy was checking them out to see if there was anything to steal… When I walked out, the smell of urine was not pleasant at all. That morning I insisted on another room and was told I could move to another room when I got back to the hotel at the end of the day. Later in the day, I moved to a new room. Upon entry, I saw 2 insects on the bed and killed them. Then I saw 2 more on the wall. Then 3 more, 5 more and eventually many more. As a person who is fobic to insects I was frozen and got out, texting customer support. Someone eventually arrived and was equally surprised. Eventually the hotel canceled the rest of my stay, refunded me for that and 50% of the night I stayed. If you are not a party lover who will be out all night, stay away.

Great location in the Gothic Quarter! This hotel was clean and comfortable. Most important to us is location when we travel, and this place is right outside Placa Reial, a very popular square with dining and such. The Gothic Quarter has tons of other dining options as well. The AC worked fantastic and the room also had a safe and blow dryer and really nice toiletries and coffee! We really enjoy staying at Sonder properties and this Barcelona location didn't disappoint :)

Cute hotel nestled off an alleyway in one of the most liveliest areas of Barcelona. Our room was situated on the first floor and literally could hear all of the nightlife outside my window till late in the morning. This includes all the fights and drunk singing, etc from all of the patrons partying. If you are looking to get any rest in Barcelona, this place is not for you. Hotel had good amenities but I’d advise to stay away if you are a light sleeper. There’s a reason why there is a white noise sound machine placed inside the room. Other than that, location is central and easy to explore off La Ramblas.
