I booked this boutique hotel directly from their website as I got better price than from any hotel booking site. It is located on a hill inside citadel overlooking an old port (to north) and sea (to east), absolutely beautiful scenery I must say. However, hotel is therefore not reachable by car and the last 50-100 meters one must walk. Hotel is about 20-30 minutes drive from the Poretta airport and taxi costs around 50 euros. There is also a bus which costs 10€. If you approach the hotel from the port, there is a very convenient lift which saves your knees from steep stairs. Our superior room #16 was in the corner and had nice balcony with lovely views. Wide double bed had separate quilts and many pillows making it comfortable enough. Air conditioning worked smoothly. There were two wardrobes and safety box was inside one of them, and was big enough for tablets, cameras and other valuables. Room was very clean and looked lately renovated. Bathroom was good size, but was very dark making it impossible to do make up, shave or check your face from the mirror. Windows were permanently sealed and blurred, why? Led lights are cheap and powerful, install some please. Shower in the corner had good water pressure but no door nor curtain, making the whole floor very slippery, flooded and dangerous. Wi-Fi worked well, but had the limitation of two devices per room, ridiculous setting which should be changed. One had to sign out from it with one device to get another one connected after a while. I asked the possibility to get more devices connected but it was refused. Breakfast was served from 7 to 10.30, but don’t go there before 8, as the cook starts his day then, unless you want to eat scrambled eggs and bacon from yesterday. That was about the only salty stuff as breakfast is very Mediterranean: eight different cakes and seven different jams, pancakes and other sweets. Coffee comes from machine with capsules and is the same no matter which button you press. In this price range hotel one would expect coffee and tea to be brought in pot to your table. The only fresh items were baguette bread and a few cherry tomatoes among some unpeeled fruits. Dinner, and lunch, was served daily in the same nice lobby area than breakfast. It’s a bit pricey compared to restaurants in town, but at least you get some food which cannot be guaranteed from the restaurants in town, as they had very unreliable and sometimes nonexistent opening times, not to mention closed businesses. Service was excellent and attentive with smiles apart from rare exceptions. I guess it’s the same challenge for all European countries that skilled staff is difficult to find. Thank you for doing your best to make our stay pleasant. I can recommend this hotel easily, and by few improvements it could be perfect!
