Eclypse de Mar Acqua Lodge

The whole experience was great. Accommodating staff! Fresh breakfast was excellent! Would definitely go back! Drinks were great. The a**osphere was amazing and staff was super helpful. Rooms were clean and food was really good. The noise wasn't as bad as some of the other reviews mentioned.

We just returned from 2 days at Eclypse de Mar. I made the booking thru the hotel and was suppose to pay upon arrival One month before our arrival date they put the full charge thru my credit card. I thought no big deal we’re going anyway but the next day they put an April/May 20% off sale on their site Guess they were afraid I’d cancel and rebook at the lower rate! Which I had every right to do That wasn’t very professional When I mentioned it at check in there was no comment So beware you never know when you will be charged We arrived and were lead to our room It was beautiful, spacious and right over the water We ordered food and received our welcome drinks and took a swim off our steps It was wonderful We then had dinner at their restaurant which was also very good But now it’s 10 pm and 81 degrees There is a fan over the bed but when it’s that hot it doesn’t help Then it rained and what little breeze we had stopped We took cold showers and tried to sleep We could hear music in the distance til about 2am As our bungalow was facing the other way it wasn’t too bad but I can see how the music would disturb rooms on the other side The power is on from 6 pm until 9 am but you can’t use a hair dryer or straightener The next morning they served a wonderful breakfast in the room It was delicious and nicely presented We were gone all day and out to dinner elsewhere but once again it was 82 degrees at 10 pm and nearly impossible to sleep. We had 2 great days at Eclypse de Mar and 2 difficult nights We were there in April I heard other months are cooler at night Yes it was a wonderful experience but sleeping in 80 degrees is not easy

It's an amazing place. Incredible. Peaceful, and surrounded by nature. The bungalows are well designed to enjoy the view as much as possible. The people working there are lovely and always trying to give us the best experience. Just as one example of that high service quality, Alfred, one of the receptionists, gave us an immediate solution to our requests, which changed all our experience. The food is great as well!! Next time in Bocas we will be there again :)

So great! A little splurge for us but so worth it!!! A nice degree of separation from busy Colon. Boat taxis are available whenever you want. The restaurant/bar served delicious meals and your choice for breakfast, either in the restaurant or in your bungalow. The very best part....the bungalow. Fabulous, spacious, comfortable bed and steps into the Caribbean right off your private deck. The water was clear and you can even snorkel right around the bungalow. Do it! So special!

We stayed 3 nights at the end of our Panama vacation in a bungalow over water. Nights of Sunday-Wednesday which may explain why we were only lightly bothered by music from the town across the bay only on the Sunday night. It was not deafening, just annoying. I can only confirm the other reviews : the bungalow is roomy and airy and comfy. We had to spend a full day of rain between it and the restaurant area, and it was not an ordeal. Power off during the day is not an issue either. The food is cooked to order, very fresh, reasonably priced and tasty. Staff is helpful but stick to their functions (if the manager or the assistant manager are not in, the kitchen staff will not help with reception – but they cook and serve well). The location is good but the sea is not very clear, on the day of heavy rain garbage carried over from streams inland crossed the bay. The “grounds” (all boardwalk) are well organized and the kayaks are new. There is no beach, beaches on the islands are accessible through excursions or water-taxi. The natural reserve is next door and well worth several visits at different times of day: we saw a monkey and a procession of load-carrying ants, and a lot of nice trees and flowers. At the top there is an unrelated unadvertised restaurant on a platform overlooking the bay (Mami’s ?) that I wish we had known about. I also walked the single-planked path through the swamp followed by garbage-strewn path to Old Bank (unofficial), not for the faint-hearted. Old Bank certainly has its own peculiar a**osphere. We did not try the restaurants in the evening (but there are a few). It is 2$ each way by taxi-boat for more traditional access. Detracting from a perfect score : the full-day excursion was disorganized, the free drinks never left the boat hold, not sure if they travel every time or are re-sold afterwards, sightseeing was perfunctory and the rush back to base to accommodate the crew’s late afternoon activities was not welcome. Internet access is very spotty. Excursions and activities are not well presented, this is a shame as I am sure there is a lot to see and do.

Very clean. Staffs are very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. They try their best to make a satisfactory stay.

The Eclipse has it all. Great views, swimming right off of steps from our room, central location a short water taxi ride from Bocas Town and great beaches, exceptional service and good food, and a fun jungle walk where staff helped us to find a sloth and cayman. We'd highly recommend the Eclipse!

This place was perfect. The nature walk right by the hotel had monkeys, sloths, red frogs and all the birds you could want to see. It was all amazing. I would choose this place every time I came to Bocas del Toro.

This is the most idyllic place to stay. Swimming off of your balcony is fabulous. clean calm waters.
