Plantation Motel

This motel stands on a beautiful piece of land. You can rent small cabins, rooms, or houses. The place has a pool and a private beach. It is reasonably priced, and the rooms are beautifully designed, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very nice as well. No complaints.

I was not expecting a lot because of some negative reviews. However we were delightfully surprised by the lovely setting of the cottages, along a long path with tall, elegant trees on either side, leading down to Lake Erie. There was hardly a beach, but one could get down to the water and climb on some large rocks. An eagle was spotted. The cottage itself was small, very clean, the bed sagged a little in the middle but not seriously, and the moon over the soybean field was visible at night from the toilet. It was very quiet. The internet was a bit sketchy. We stayed one night, and would have stayed longer, but we are travelers. If I had had my swimsuit, I would have gone for a dip in the small pool which appeared clean and inviting.

The old lock and key presented us with a challenge. We had to fiddle with it for a few minutes before we could get inside. It was clean, but the toilet was leaking on the floor where you put your feet. The fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling. We won’t ever stay here again. You get what you pay for I guess.

You gets what you pays for. This place was about half the price of the next lowest price place nearby. I found it very home-like. My house isn't spotless, I've got all these DIY projects I've been meaning to do but just hain't got around to it yet, and when I have company over who've known me for years, I don't bother hiding what's wrong. Yeah, see, it's like your house that way. Don't be expecting Hilton here. Seeing as the only thing we did there was sleep and then shower in the morning, we didn't want or need something fancypants. BTW, the shower head was a bit low for tall folks. Nice touches include one single pot of coffee for the whole motel. You pop by in the morning to the reception room and get your good mornings in. Nice! If you're on a budget, this place is home friendly nice. If you're not on a budget, go stay someplace fancypants or at least have the guts not to complain about minor stuff. I would deffo stay there again to go to Cedar Point. That is one heck of an amusement park. On to the best part of the review! You've got the name of the place! You've got the address! You've heard of search engines! So search for their website and get it cheaper direct AND make Todd happy! Be a true budget traveller! Those "unexpected fees" others are complaining about come from the website upon which you are reading this review...

The place is absolutely filthy. We knew going in that the place was small and old. Age and size aren't the issue. For rooms as small as these, a deep extensive cleaning wouldn't take more than an hour. A typical motel cleaning wouldn't take more than 30 minutes. I would say an average of 10 minutes, maybe, is put into "cleaning" these rooms. I saw several rooms, cottages and a house, each was a filthy as the others. For example, when you put a towel on the floor, after your shower, the towel turns completely black. There are bugs and cobwebs everywhere. The smell is horrific. The floors haven't been swept, let alone cleaned in years! You are dirtier after your shower. The filth and the horrific smell are the biggest complaints. There are several other negative points such as unfriendliness and the inability to receive clean towels for a several day stay but, the overall filth should be brought to your attention and enough to warn you off. The location is nice and the Lake front is beautiful. If you want to pay for that and sleep outside or in your car, then it is worth it. Other than that, I wouldn't cross the threshold.

This was a fast 1 night stop over on a long drive to INDIANA The after hours check in process was as efficient as promised The little cottage was cute and nicely clean Walked over to the lake in the morning... the reason for my low rating is the "extra fee" that I was charged, which IMHO is simply ridiculous!!!!. I booked this place through ******* and was quoted a rate which then had roughly $8.00 added for 'taxes & fees'. I was totally fine to pay that. However when the charge appeared on my CC statement it was almost another $2.00 additional (OK nobody will get rich or poor from $2.00 and you may call me cheap but still) When ******* called the hotel they were informed that this was "a service fee if you process your payment thru credit card" Dont think I'll be stopping there again - IMHO things like charging extra for CC payments should be disclosed
