Bodhgaya Regency Hotel

We were a group of 10 people. We stayed a total of 3 days. On the first day we arrived, I needed to take a shower after ***y long travel days. I get in the tub to shower. Not realizing the tub floor was like stepping on a water bed. It was not firm like a tub should be. As I moved, my foot went lower and I went flying on my back out of the tub, no safety bar to grab on. As I grabbed the shower curtain, I fell flat on my back to the floor and hitting the top of my head on the wall. I would never stay at this hotel again. Complaining to the hotel staff was useless. Travers beware.

This is my second stay at the Regency as I stayed over night during a Buddhist train tour in 2014. I was happy with all aspects on that stay. (I was impressed) This year I came to Bodh ***a to do a week long personal meditation retreat. The Regency supplied everything I needed from location, very clean hotel to a wonderful staff They make my week in Bodh ***a amazing. Kudos to the restaurant staff.

This is a good hotel ***aged by professionals. There is scope to improve food section though food quality is not bad. We stayed here for a night and had reservations for 6 rooms. Check-in was smooth. Hospitable staff

I stayed for one night while visiting Bodh***a. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is close to everything and only a short 10 minute walk to Mahabodhi Temple. The reception staff and other staff are really polite and I have no issues with them. I had booked a Deluxe Room and while the room was simple, but adequate, the bathroom is what really bothered me. There was sewage smell coming from the bathroom as soon as you opened the door. The smell was so bad that I dreaded going to the bathroom for any business or even to wash hands. There are two shower heads - one in the bathtub and one outside it. If you use the shower outside the bathtub, the entire floor gets very wet and the water seeps outside to the room (as there is no dedicated space to contain the water). If you shower in the tub, then the shower curtains are around half a foot away from the tub. So the water spills out onto the floor and wets the entire floor. The toilet is positioned very oddly, literally facing the wall. If you are a tall person, then your legs will hit the wall. You thus have to sit angled which is very weird and strange. The bathroom also was very old and dirty. The bathtub was black in spots and the plastic was chipping all over. BTW, the WiFi never worked (it connected, but the WiFi was not working). I had to use my phone as a hotspot to get internet. The staff like I said earlier, was very polite and it is a shame that the bathroom would cause such issues. All in all, I would still recommend this place due to the staff and the location. But if you can spend a little more, there are excellent and modern hotels like Dhamma Resort (very modern) that I would recommend over this hotel.

Was charged twice at the time of check out!! Was told that Swipe machine has some issue and charge slip was not handed. Paid cash when reception staff insisted, received transaction text a few minutes later, contacted Bodh ***a Regency reception. Was told that accounts person was on leave and that amount would be refunded in a day Or two. It has been over a week and Hotel is un-responsive and I feel cheated by Bodh ***a Regency

Everything is good except service . Service is pathetic . The call bell , refrigerator , landline all are messedup this is my 4th when i am checking out the hotel and yet they are being sorry :-( pathetic service , pathetic experience

The location of the hotel is excellent, just next to the Japanese Temple and nearly 500 metres away from the Mahabodhi ***dir. The rooms were spacious and clean. The service was superb, and the staff members were warm and hospitable.

We had been there as a group and had booked six rooms. People at the reception were quite receptive and the check-in process was smooth. Meals were included in our package. Dinner and breakfast were moderately good. Vegeterian food was served with limited choices but were decent and tasty. Restaurant is quite spacious with laid furnitures. Rooms had comfortable beds. Clean sheets, towels and reasonably good toileteries were provided. This property is about 1 km away from main temple. Other buddhist temples are within walking distance. Big Buddha is hardly 200 metres away from the hotel.

We visited Bodh***a and stayed in Bodh***a Regency for two nights in a Superior Deluxe room. The room was nicely decorated and spacious. Tea coffee machine worked fine. The bathroom was however a bit cramped with the WC placed in a tight corner. The basin and the counter was also small. They have put a bathtub in the bathroom which I think is unnecessary, a shower counter would have been enough. Perhaps they did it for their foreign guests. The staff were friendly and services were good. Food in the restaurant was ok, though a bit expensive. Overall the stay was quite good and we were satisfied.
