The Westmorland Inn

Booked for a birthday weekend and was hesitant due to negative reviews about the rooms. The bed and pillows was hard and not very comfortable, but the room was clean enough. Nearby parking available on the side streets. This was one of the cheapest places available, I wouldn't be too put off by the reviews to stay for one night. Friendly staff.

In for drinks a few times during our stay. Dogs more than welcome by the manager and a great pint poured too. The manager remembered our drinks order and made us feel very welcome with our dog, dog goodies and a water bowl provided without having to ask.

Booked for Sunday roast on August bank holiday. They call 2 hours ahead saying they’ve ran out of roast, and 5 other mains. Left us no time to sort anything else out, now we have to have takeaway. This was completely unacceptable, avoid going here.

Unfortunately we booked here for 2 nights. The bar is lovely and the staff really nice. But the room wasn’t great. The bed was awful the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. This was not worth the money we paid considering we are now staying somewhere else for the same price and the difference in the room is incomparable. Wouldn’t recommend the rooms at all.

Booked for one night at a rate of £115 (no breakfast) which I would say was way overpriced for the quality of the room and I would rate the room 2.5 but can't. The guest areas leading to bedroom 7 were grubby and in need of some TLC, decorating and cleaning. The room had one window which opened at the bottom but I imagine in hot weather it would be very uncomfortable evident by a big fan in the wardrobe. The room was well worn and tired, the bedside cabinet had a wedge under it and the drawers would not stay closed.. The TV was tiny and angled on the wall and not in front of the bed, so you got a crick in your neck. The furniture is well past its best as is the bathroom and we propped the bathroom door open with the dressing table stool as it wouldn't stay open. The only good thing was its location, with a carpark nearby and it being right in the town centre. Would I stay again definitely not. We stayed at New Dungeon Ghyll the following night in a lovely room with breakfast at £107 now that was worth it.

We booked this room for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 , definitely couldn’t do 2 nights in this room . We were in room 8 and it was shocking for the price with no breakfast. I feel sorry for anyone staying in the room below this one as the floor was so creaky both in the bathroom and bathroom. We stay in the Lakes quite a bit but definitely won’t stay here again . The only good thing is that it is that it is ideally located to everything
