The Old Rectory

Called in on the way back from Brean Down with my mum and spaniel. Very welcoming and tranquil surroundings. My mum is 92 and can't manage much to eat but loved the scrambled eggs and ate more than I've seen her eat for ages. My vegan breakfast was very well cooked, hot and tasty. Beau loved his doggy sausage!! Will definitely visit again.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea at the Old Rectory in Brean. Choice of sandwiches and cakes complete with scone jam and cream. Nice hot pot of tea too! Nice conservatory to sit in or a lovely large garden when it is sunny. We visited on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Service was great. Lovely find.

Stayed for the Burnham on Sea carnival. Room was clean, warm and dog friendly Breakfast was good with friendly efficient staff. Good value for money and would definalty stay again if in the area

I regret that it's all rather too ordinary to recommend, even for this traveller who is hardly fussy when on his own for one night at a golf tournament (as referred to in my other reviews). The room was draughty, the shower was feeble (it's an electric power shower but clearly an older model that should have and probably has been superseded). Breakfast was communal and not very well presented. You don't go to Brean for quality mind you, and it was cheap.

An absolute gem of a place. Well furnished room, fully functional shower ( a good torrent rather than a sprinkler). Breakfast was well cooked and above that the hosts were marvelous. Polite, helpful, informative and went beyond to make us feel welcome .

Staff were friendly & polite, unfortunately the room was a bit disappointing, compact comes to mind: Stains on bedding Mattress uncomfortable Took 2/3 attempts to turn off hot tap Once toilet was flushed it sounded like it was dripping And I am absolutely sure the washing machine(s) was at the back of our room and were going most of the night

The staff were really lovely and helpful with our booking and offered a travel cot for my youngest which was really kind. Check in, went really smoothly and an overview of relevant information for the room, stay, breakfast & checkout. The room was a good size and had a little kitchenette, with tea, coffee facilities and fridge, sink, microwave which we didn't realise at the time of booking. Although the room had some perks, the room we had (no11) was very dated and in need of tlc. My daughter dropped her comforter down the side of the bunk bed in the evening, and it came back up very dirty. The bathroom, in my opinion was the most part which needs the most work, it was covered in mould, fitting and fixtures old and some bits broken. The shower on the other hand worked well and was really quite fierce. That was great for us, but the children cried as it was quite sharp coming out of the head. Breakfast was really lovely and nicely cooked. Staff were kind and very helpful and accommodated for my daughter who has a milk allergy. Overall, we only stayed one night and it served a purpose for the stay we needed. In that time, my daughter loved the play area and fishing pond in the gardens. We said we probably wouldn't return with the way the rooms are at the moment, but a shame really as the staff were really friendly and a great location.

What a little gem, fantastic on all accounts, location, friendly welcoming staff, rooms, breakfast and other clientele. Our 5th stay, spanning 14 years but still impressed. Brean very small community but all bars, restaurants welcoming because they value your custom. Very pet friendly which is our main attraction, beach is tranquil and plentiful. Would highly recommend for few nights stay or longer if prepared to travel to local resorts such as Weston or Burnham ect ect.

Really lovely place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well maintained. Food was excellent, all freshly made and good value. The Tea Room and Garden with large pond was lovely and if you have little ones there is a good play area. The beach is a few hundred yards away and as this isnt in the heart of Brean it is a quiet location.
