Argyll Arms Hotel

We really enjoyed our 1 night stay. 2 of us had a good size twin room, clean and with a very nice modern bathroom. It could have done with a nonslip shower mat though. My 3 rd friend had a lovely double room but found there wasn’t anywhere to put things in the bathroom, small criticism. Very nice breakfast with enough choice. The hotel itself was really friendly feeling, we thought, with an area to sit, what seemed like new carpeting on stairs and corridor . Pleasant helpful staff. We didn’t have dinner but the menu looked very good. Excellent location.

Situated right on the main street, I booked this more for convenience than anything else and at £114 per night, I was expecting a decent experience. Car parking at the rear and a bar serving alcohol…what can go wrong? There’s no lift but that’s OK, I can manage easily enough to the first floor…although I’m always suspicious when I get handed an actual door key as opposed to a card. Yikes…someone’s at the wind up surely! Last refurbished in 1983, there’s an old-fashioned steel radiator that is turned off…but only look warm after having been turned on for an hour…room is Baltic. No heating source whatsoever in the bathroom…it’ll be freezing in the morning. A small electric heater is the only device available which after several hours, surprisingly does help to defrost the room….there’s condensation on the outside of the window! :) By now I’m thinking that if it wasn’t almost dark and Winter, I would have picked up my case and left but sadly I have no option but to stay here…only one night thankfully.

Great location on the main street. Not far from shops, pubs and the harbour. Spacious room (only thing was our view was of a side alley and scaffolding). Great snug bar and lunches/dinners available in bar, front lounge area or dining room. We had dinner one of the nights and it was excellent. Breakfast was good also. Staff very friendly. Also free parking at the back of hotel.

I stayed at the Argyll Hotel for four nights. It was very comfortable and clean. The staff is excellent. The breakfasts were good. I used the dining room a couple of times and it was very nice and quiet. Reasonably priced and convenient to everything. I would stay there again when I am in Campbeltown.

A rather tired hotel which really would benefit from an upgrade, There is no lift and the stairs are steep. I can't remember of the booking site I used asked about disabilities, but we were on second floor. The breakfast was good.

I had prepaid for 2 nights at this hotel but decided I couldn’t stay as it stank of smoke; it made me feel sick. The room I’d been allocated had a sickly smell of air freshener that wouldn’t dissipate even though I sat in the room for 20 mins as the windows didn’t open fully. I must acknowledge that some would find the welcome from the owners super friendly; I found it unprofessional and over familiar. I was on holiday walking the Kintyre Way which I wholeheartedly recommend. Campbeltown is close enough to be a base for the last 2 days of the walk (with a couple of taxis) so I decided to write off the money I’d prepaid and stay elsewhere at additional personal cost . I’m sorry to be so damning but it was my personal experience snd reaction.

Really nice hotel. Large room with everything you need. Beds comfy. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was really good. Hotel is really nice inside, looks recently refurbished but has breakfast room has original features. Had dinner in the hotel, chicken, haggis and the best gravy I have ever tasted, yum

I'm a lone female in a Sunday night. They've put me right above the noisy pub at the back and side of the hotel. I've stayed in lots of places but this is the worst hicksvill inattentive customer care I've seen in many years. I thought 2 stars related to fewer facilities, not service.

A very cosy hotel, with clean rooms, with ensuite bathrooms and very good beds. They have their own parking at the back of the hotel. Everything to do within Campbeltown is in walking distance, so we could visit the distilleries and drink the whiskies. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
