I'm here from the UK with my family, adults and children. We chose Tonga towers because of the previous great reviews and we've stayed in can picafort before at hotel son baulo which we loved. So let's start with the positives, the place is very clean, the housekeeping here is excellent even though they appear to be very understaffed and the poor cleaners are overworked with some guests living like animals. There is a great choice of pools, not heated outdoor and the heated indoor one is tiny. The shower was warm and there was complimentary shower gels, shampoos and clean towels which were lovely. The bar staff were efficient and polite too. The reception staff were great as were the restaurant staff and chefs. In fact all of the staff here are a credit to the hotel and I hope the management give them all the recognition they deserve. The bed is kingsize and very comfortable and the tvs from around channel 83 are English. Air con works well in the room and once you open the balcony door it switches off. Poolside towels require a 10 euro deposit each and can be changed daily at the poolside. The parts that I didn't like/enjoy: the water from the wash basin and shower is very salty - bear this in mind when brushing your teeth as it made me gag, it even came through green one day. You can hear noise from above and either side of your room quite easily. Meal times in the restaurant were awful, it was packed ALWAYS, and I felt like we were all crammed in. The food is very repetitive and the cuts of meat cheap. The omelettes in the morning aren't cooked well enough for me and every dessert (although it looked different) tasted the same. The food in the pool bar/area was the same too sadly. The hotel is massive and has predominantly german guests who (majority) i found to have no idea about, manners, personal space or queueing up and a lot of them push in front or barge you out of the way, they don't queue for the lift either and are quite happy to cram in with you like they're sitting on your shoulder and breathing in your ear to get to where they want to be. The sunbeds could do with cushions on as they're uncomfortable after a short while. Loads of people leave their towels on the four poster sunbeds and I think the lifeguard/staff need to remove them more promptly as we were often sat next to nicer four poster beds for hours on end with towels just left on them and no one there. The tea and coffee machines use powdered milk with water and the coffee is rank. There is no option on view for any decaffeinated tea/coffee. It is not easily recognised that they do an all-inclusive option for ice lollies and ice creams so make sure you ask at the bars and they'll give you an available menu. Pint glasses weren't available for any drinks, they were all in plastic cups, some of which were dirty when we had drinks from the pool bar. They REALLY need to sort out the restaurant though as it was mayhem - allocating time slots to guests would cause less of this
