Lucia Hotel

A great little hotel in the centre of the old city. easy to reach all the restaurants and bars. Receptionists were always welcolming The room did its job, was clean and comfortable. able to make tea and coffee. Even a little lift, to get up stairs.

Been there in August and we had limited choice as our first hotel cancelled our booking. In the end we got a more expensive solution, in an amazing location, still the rooms were very small. The triple rooms was possible a nice double room! The shower was so close to the WC that, even if you were very careful, the WC got totally wet.

This hotel is practical, for the price you pay, you get what you pay for. The rooms on the back of the hotel are fit for purpose and functional. The ones that face the harbour are much better. Breakfast is plentiful and very good typically Greek (Cretan) style.

We stayed in Lucia Hotel in Chania old port from 20 to 23rd June 2024. We had read reviews on booking . Com about the hotel being dated, and about the location etc… so we decided to see for ourselves. It cost £295 for 3 nights, with a sea view room/balcony. We stayed in room 111. On arrival, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist . Signed in and got our room key. The hotel entrance is very dated, as previously described. So no surprises. We took the little lift to our floor and opened our room door. Yes, the room is basic. The decor has seen better days, and the furniture looks like something from the 70’s. That said, it was clean, tidy and perfectly functional. We checked out the bathroom. Decent size. The shower was cute, but it worked. It was good enough. The view though…..it was to die for. Just breath taking. After all, that is why we booked there. Not disappointed. Small balcony with a table and chairs on it. We had an air con unit in our room, which we did use at night just too cool the room down. The bed for me, was too firm. I have arthritis so I did not find it comfortable at all. My husband though, loved it. So I guess it’s personal preference. The room was quite cool too. As we found out, the sun is off the room by midday, so it never got too hot in there. The bed was changed every day and we were given fresh towels every day too. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel, but we’re told it was €20 each if we wanted it. We preferred to go outside on to the harbour to eat. So to sum up. A great base. Basic, but very clean. We learned to embrace the tired decor. I recommend it for the location. Chania harbour is very noisy well into the early hours. That would usually bother me, but strangely, it didn’t. Was shattered every night. So slept through it.

Arrived at Chania airport half past midnight. Lucia hotel is one of the elder hotels in Chania, right on the harbour front vehicle access is about a hundred metres from the entrance. Although it was nearly 1 am Chania harbour front and surrounding roads and lanes was packed with people in restaurants ,strolling about , all age groups chatting and generally having fun! It seemed like all the restaurants were full , the staff seemed to be ‘ taking five ‘ before a massive clear up. The atmosphere was fantastic there must have been a couple of thousand people wandering about totally chilled out. I staggered to my hotel feeling tired but at peace with the world.

Stayed there for a single night on our way to another destination. Beautiful location right in the old venetian harbor, rooms are old but impressively well kept, better than many modern hotels. Friendly service, fair pricing, beautiful view. Would visit again.
