I’ve stayed at the English Inn many times in the past and had positive experiences every time. Unfortunately, this time was different and disappointing. I don’t know if there’s been a change in management or something else, but there were a lot of problems during our stay.
The shower was leaking water which covered the entire bathroom floor any time we took a shower (Room 338). I’m sure this wasn’t a recent phenomenon but something that was neglected and became worse over time. The shower water pressure was very weak which was most likely related to the leak.
Our room wasn’t cleaned Saturday even though I saw the cleaning staff cleaning the room next to ours when we left our room. We didn’t have a do not disturb sign on our door so there was no reason why the cleaning staff would not clean our room. Hotel management should be checking to confirm that staff have cleaned all of the rooms on a daily basis. This is standard operating procedure for any hotel!
The window curtain was missing several hooks, which prevented the curtain from completely covering the window. This is unacceptable when you want privacy and no light entering your room.
All of these issues reflect poorly on the hotel’s physical condition and appearance, as well as the hotel’s customer service. These issues are easily fixable but require management oversight and accountability. And a focus on room maintenance and appearance.
On the positive side, the complimentary breakfast was delicious as always!
