I’ve stayed with Premier Inn many times over the years without issue, but my recent stay in Cheltenham was by far the worst experience I’ve had. Firstly, the room was unbearably hot with no way to open a window for fresh air, which I find extremely unhygienic. Despite calling reception and being told they would switch the air conditioning to a cool setting, it made no difference. To make matters worse, the air conditioning vent was filled with dust, meaning any air circulating the room was contaminated. The lack of fresh air and the dusty environment made the room feel stifling and unclean. Secondly, the noise levels were unbearable. Every footstep from the room above sounded as though the ceiling might give way. As someone with autism and sensory issues, this was deeply distressing and prevented me from relaxing. The noise continued into the early hours and resumed again at 6 am, along with disturbances from the corridor. Between the heat and the noise, I managed only a couple of hours of sleep, and the sad thing is, is that the mattress was very comfortable. I wish I could have enjoyed sleeping on it I contacted the reception again in the morning to tell them of the awful experience I saw online Premier Inn advertising a “Good Night Sleep Guarantee,” which you can only claim on if you speak to the team at reception. Unfortunately, the staff member I spoke to said there was nothing they could do and only offered me a free breakfast, which I declined. I found this response confusing and disappointing, as it contradicts the guarantee process outlined online. Overall, this stay was extremely uncomfortable and not up to the standard I’ve come to expect from Premier Inn. I would strongly urge management to address these issues, particularly the air quality and noise insulation. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend staying at this location.
