The resort is right by the water and takes only a few minutes to drive to the village where there are little shops, bakeries and restaurants. We got the traditional two queen beds. The room was small, dated and very humid. We were on the first ground floor. Our friends were next to us and their room was moist/ humid too. Another family was on the second floor and it was not as humid. There are no elevators so if you have trouble with stairs you may have to request ground level. The pool was a hit for our kids. The adventure centre has water sports equipment avail for $. They have spike ball for free. Some of our members spent time at the nightly fire and enjoyed meeting new guests and spending time chatting. The daily breakfast was good as it was included. Get there early. Order from a menu style. Service at the breakfast was good. The grounds are pretty. I think for the price of the resort made the stay acceptable. If it was any more I am not sure I would recommend because of the dated rooms and humidity. There is a laundromat in town if you need. I went to get coffee every morning in town at the wheeler cafe. New owners and they just opened six weeks ago. Lovely little wee town.

My family and I decided to stay here during a trip to Cape Breton where we had planned to explore the famous Cabot Trail. We were told that the town of Baddeck makes a great hub for starting out and returning back to from the trail. Within Baddeck, Silver Dart Lodge stood out with its clean and comfortable atmosphere - from the lodge's stunning and expansive frontage with a beautiful view of the Bras D'Or Lake to the staff's wonderful hospitality, we enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer. Our room was clean and had a very picturesque and wonderful view of the lake. We also wanted to extend a very big Thank You to Denise and her staff for welcoming us, extending such gracious hospitality, and making our visit a very memorable one!

This motel has a certain old-fashioned charm to it. It is a good motel but not great. The room we stayed in, which was on the top floor, was quite small. The floor was very uneven. It is clean, though, and that is very important. There is also ample parking. The room does have an AC unit in it, but the one we had was quite noisy and cut out a lot. We needed it due to the plus 30 temps in the area when we were there. We did want to try the restaurant, but the seafood we wanted was not being served there, so I cannot provide a review of it. Most reviews I read of restaurant have been glowing, so you should be in good hands. If I was going to offer management some advice, it would be this: Upgrade your beds. They are small for couples and not very comfortable. The motel is within easy walking distance to other restaurants and the boardwalk.

The Trailsman Lodge was way better than I expected based on some of the recent negative reviews. I spent 3 wonderful nights here exploring Baddeck, the Cabot Trail and Cape Breton island; the reviewer who claimed they couldn't see the lake from a lake view room must've arrived and left in the dark : you couldn't be any closer to the lake, and even if you can't see it from your room, it's right outside at breakfast. At this time of year, the many geese had numerous cute little babies to look at on the lawn that gently slopes down from the deck to the lake, which is beautiful. The room itself was quiet and comfortable, with two queen beds, a couple of lovely armchairs and some outside red chairs on the deck overlooking the views. It has all the normal facilities you'd expect, such as large fridge, coffee machine, lots of wardrobe hanging space, ironing board, large flatscreen TV etc. The bathroom was beautifully tiled, with fabulous shower pressure, a hair dryer and plenty of room around the washbasin for your toiletries. Maybe this is a seasonal thing: breakfast was table service, so you could order what you wanted and it was brought to you : delicious banana cake and fruits, as well as bacon, sausage, toasts, hashbrowns and the best scrambled eggs I had during a 12 day trip around NS,NB & PEI. There was also cereals and choices of coffee and juice. So, absolutely no complaints or issues at all : I would happily stay here again!

Located with a great view of the lake, this is a great place to stay as you expand your horizons off the immediacy of the Cape Breton Trail. This inn is complete with a pub that serves wonderful seafood chowder and cold beer. Catch it on the right night and there could be various forms of entertainment, from trivia to live music. But make your reservations if you want to participate, because these things are highly attended events
