I chose to stay for a four-star hotel. The public area still has the standard of an old hotel. I mainly talk about the guest rooms. The facilities are complete but slightly outdated, especially the bathroom. The wash basin is cracked, the shower nozzle is small, and there is no shower room. Standing in the bathtub and showering, the bathtub is very slow, causing the feet to be soaked all the time. If the hardware facilities are upgraded, the Kyoto Hotel is still a good choice

BBeth27What an absolutely unique and delightful property! It was a pleasure to stay here and experience a bit of history. These buildings have been carefully and lovingly restored through the efforts of the property owner and a dedicated architect—both men were at the homestay during my visit, which was a treat. Comfy bed, delicious food, lovely and attentive staff—if you need anything, just ask. I enjoyed just wandering around and getting lost in the village. Oh yes, I do not speak Chinese and traveled alone, but the owner speaks perfect English and contacted me in advance of my stay. He added me on WeChat and was hugely supportive in getting me to Chengyang and Lost World from Longji area. The staff were ready with Baidu translator so communication was a breeze.

Hotel staffs are friendly,especially the resturant provides cheap price but tasty foods. The rooms is in system upgrade, key card can not worked well, and room has heavy smoky smell in some rooms, and air condition is not cool, we have to change 3 rooms, but hotel staffs are helpful. The bed is big and comfortable. Overall, the hotel is good in domestic hotels.

Additionally, many points of interest are within a short walking distance from the hotel such as the Wind and Rain Bridge, a small and lovely park with view of the river as well as numerous restaurants. Other points of interest such as the Drum Tower are within 1.2K walking distance. I live and work in Guilin and this was a great weekend getaway for me (30 min. by train). I'll definitely go back to San Jiang and stay in the Dong Xiang Guesthouse again. Great town, great hotel, and a great stay!
