The location of the hotel is quite central. It is next to the main church. It is very convenient for eating and shopping nearby. I regret not booking a hotel with breakfast. The environment and service are no less than domestic five-star hotels. The environment is designed to be quite high-end. The three of us girls just entered the hotel. From the front door, two gentlemen came running from a distance to help us carry our luggage. They were warm and considerate. They also took the initiative to help us take a taxi to the train station when we checked out. The only drawback of the hotel is that the sound insulation is relatively poor. Arrived around 10am - 4 hours prior to check in - and our room was ready. So thankful to the hotel for such an early check in. Check in quick and smooth, receptionist was great. Room 105 with a small balcony facing front of the hotel. Beautiful and spacious room. Was a little noisy at night but expected as very close to Las Ramblas. Great choice for breakfast with very tasty and fresh food. Poached eggs were cooked perfectly. Service was really good. Roof top pool and bar was great. Service was ok. Check out was quick and efficient. I would definitely recommend Hotel Espana.

The staff and location were great! The 24 hour snack buffet was below average and the attendant was very cranky. The hotel is in dire need of repairs and updating. The interior is very dated, room carpeting was dirty with no luggage racks provided, leaving us to place suitcases on the floor. The sliding shower doors made a hideous screaching noise with each use and did not contain the water, creating a floor flood with each use. The towels need replacing- worn and rough. The bathroom fan didn’t work. The drapery was detaching from both windows. Overall very disappointing.

Fabulous hotel in a great location, with a great security and very friendly staff, the food and service were higher than any expectations and we had a wonderful time. Very clean rooms , nice bed and comfortable mattress. We were staying for business, but with 2.5 years old child. Hotel provided a good bed for her and goods to play. She was very satisfied too. The roof top pool was clean and peaceful. We will come back for sure

Just came back from our trip to Barcelona and our stay in Hotel California. The Hotel is set within 200 metres distance of The Rambla Main Street, market areas and plenty of cafes and bars to choose from, the rooms are clean & tidy and breakfast perfectly adequate. The staff are pleasant especially one particular receptionist Jaine who was very helpful who even carried our two cases upstairs whilst the lift was temporarily broken and also guided us which locations to go. Only one downside was one receptionist who seemed to work the late shift looked like he just fell out of bed and probably had as he seemed half asleep. All in all I would recommend and definitely go back. A+

Advantages: Good location, convenient to walk and ride by car. The hotel is very high value and relatively new. There is a very simple coffee break and the reception service is good. Disadvantages: There is decoration taste, the wardrobe is very obvious, the tap water message is very heavy, stayed for four days, it is very uncomfortable to use. There was only one pack of paper towels in four days, and there was no supplement. It’s a bit strange to re-authorize through Ctrip.

The location is excellent, the price is very friendly in Barcelona. Going out is the subway station, and it is easy to get a taxi. The novice aunt at the front desk is very enthusiastic, the business is really unfamiliar, a stay while chatting, and it took almost half an hour. The location is very central, almost the center of the core attractions of the city.

Hotel room wise, apart from the room is small for the price you pay, the toilet is extremely small… yet the room comes with an unnecessary long corridor walkway. We had problem finding space to put our luggages.
For probably one of the cheapest and most decent room for its location, am overall satisfied with the hotel.

- The staff was lovely, friendly and helpful
- If you request something, such as an iron etc., it’s always on time and without delay
- Everything was clean. I cannot complain about the cleaning standards.

- the room is quite dark despite the lights available
- The view, especially the back view, was dreary and depressing, considering I had a long flight from Asia compared to my sister, who flew from Europe and didn’t need the rest as much as I did. Every day, I woke up to a very depressing view. It’s not ideal, and it's poor for someone who may enjoy visuals.
- The sockets were annoying; one didn’t work, and the kettle station needed to be handheld or changed elsewhere. Twice, I held the kettle button down manually to make coffee because I couldn’t be bothered for someone to come and check or replace it as I was in a rush
- The furniture and carpets are outdated in style and appearance. It makes the hotel look way older
- There’s a door holder behind the bathroom door, which lands in the middle, next to the toilet. I hurt myself a few times because I keep forgetting it’s there and, therefore, poorly designed
- Unfortunately, we forgot to bring our toothpaste and toothbrush, though I wasn’t expecting Best Western not to have them in your room. You have to request them every day. The housekeeper didn’t leave them or free water for us daily, only on the first day. So I’m not sure if she’s been forgetting to give us any, or it’s only complimentary water on day 1.
- The wardrobe is tiny and in such a hidden, awakened position. It was dark black and looked like glass. We had to call the staff to show us. It’s in a weird place
- Slippers: Again, much like the water, we were only given slippers on the first day. I understand the need to go green, but given that we stayed for four nights, it would be hygienic to give us a new set. On the last day, we had to wear our own shoes inside the room, which wasn’t great.
- We paid € 15 additional for breakfast daily €. It was basic but not bad. But the time until 10:30AM is good.
Overall, was it worth the money we paid for four nights? No.
The only highlights were ,mentioned among the professional staff members and cleanliness standards.

The hotel is located in a core area. The room is quiet, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning cooling effect is not particularly ideal. It's about five minutes' walk from the subway.

GGuest UserWe loved our stay at the Hesperia Presidente, very good area to be based for exploring by foot or by public transport. Around fifteen minutes walk to Passeig de Gracia or similar in the other direction along Diagonal to a lovely shopping centre. The staff really go out of their way to assist and were always very friendly and informative. We were in a Junior Suite for three adults, which had a dividing door for privacy - it was initially only set up for two but this was very quickly remedied. The room was quite large, with a great bathroom/fabulous power shower! The hotel has a lovely seating area in reception which was very welcome whilst waiting for our transfer in the evening (they kept our luggage after check out with no issues at all). The area is very busy being on Diagonal but I would feel very safe travelling on my own here - lots of restaurants, bars nearby

First of all the problems started before whe arrived with this hotel. Whe booked suite with an early checkin and sended an email with the question from wich time whe can checkin while whe booked an early checkin. Whe got an email back from manuela wich she didnt chekced my booking at all even i sended their my booking nr. She reply’s that early checkin is upon availability. After sending a mail back she says sorry about the misunderstanding because i have already booked the early checking, she just didnt checked my personal details before sending a email back. The next few days i sended a email again about taxi’s etc….and mosts email wont get answered. The days whe arrived in our suite. Huge leaking in the shower. Molt is growing on the wet carpet. Whe have reported this at least 4/5 times and only 2 times they taken action, ask this to the housekeepers and even they told me that they reported it many times. Whe are just suprised that they told us that the hotel staff isnt listen to them!. They just ingnore it in most cases. Guesst are not always able to use the swimming pool while you payed for the hotel as a guest becasue companies have to constantly rent the pool so that guests can't use it, especially in the evenings. We also noticed that noise from the roof daily. almost every day there is a party going on on the roof with music which is no problem at all, only the music is on so loud that you can hear it in the rooms. almost every day there is a party going on on the roof. very bad for the people who want to get up early the next morning or have to go to work so that their sleep is disturbed by this. Keycards in the lift/elevator are not workin gprperly. When you insert the card to go up it wont work. It turns out lot of guests having this issue. I contact the front office in regards to the lunch for 21 september because whe needed to check out at 07:00 and wont make it with the breakfast so asked them what their options are. as if it couldn’t be whorse. 1 male young employee who says on the front office at 19 september at 06:30- in the morning ”oooh no problem” i need to check with reservation departement you are a premium member , booked via our website, I can arrange for you to give you a refund for that day and having a take away breakfast isnt worth the money (in a verry rude and innoproriate way), seriously ? this is the way how you talk to your hotel guest ? the take away isnt worht it ??, asked for a confirmation email , he promised me to contact the reservation department and promise contact me to contact me at the end of the day but as expected nothing heard. End of the day i contacted the front office again and ofcourse i spoken to manueala, manuela told me its not possible to get a rufund wich is totally fine but how she know that ? without contacting reservation depa

GGuest UserStayed here at the end of August for 5 nights. Hotel is in a brilliant location. 10 minute walk to Sagrada Familia also a 2 minute walk from the hop on hop off buses around the city. The staff on reception were very friendly and welcoming and very helpful. I left my Apple Watch in the hotel and only realised when I had got through security at the airport. I rang the hotel and they found my watch in the room and helped me return it to myself which I am very grateful for. The room was cleaned every day while we were out. For the cost of the hotel, the location, cleanliness and hospitality was top notch. If I ever visit Barcelona again I would be sure to stop here any time.

“Ideal” in name, but NOT in reality. We spent four nights there, in three different rooms, because the hostel was so ridiculously overbooked. We kept finding ourselves locked out of our room, only to hear from the INCREDIBLY unhelpful and unsympathetic staff that our booking did not exist. We were moved from our all female dorm to a mixed dorm without being informed, and it took us asking to clarify that our dorm was female for them to tell us it was not. We had originally booked an all female dorm, and felt uncomfortable in the mixed, so we were moved yet again. Beyond all of these booking confusions, the Ideal Youth Hostel is not ideal for meeting other youths. First of all, the median age of folks in the hostel was at LEAST 45. The hostel also does not organize any group meetings or excursions, and the common areas are dark, grimy, empty, and unpleasant. While there is a kitchen, it is locked all the time, and you practically have to fight with the receptionists to get a fork. The hostel IS well located for exploring the city, but I’d take a few extra minutes of walking or a metro stop or two over staying in the massively touristy Ramblas anyways. Whatever you do, don’t spend your money on this hostel.

They have audio guidance in 5-6 different languages that you can choose and enjoy informative tour around the place by yourself as much as you want, taking your time to learn and take pictures. Because with tour guide and groups you have to follow the guide and crowd which I don’t like.
