Terrible Experience at Hotel Playas del Rey majorca– Avoid! My family and I stayed at Hotel Playas del Rey in Santa Ponsa from August 19th to 25th, and it was by far the worst hotel experience we've ever had. This hotel is completely rundown, dirty, and in desperate need of renovation. The room we stayed in was filthy—ceiling leaks, broken furniture, and dirty bathrooms were just the start. Pillows and blankets were in terrible condition, and we even found cockroaches in the room. The dust in the room was so bad that it triggered my daughter's asthma, leaving her unwell for the rest of our stay. Despite complaining to the manager, nothing was done to address these issues. On top of the room conditions, basic services were lacking. Towels for the swimming pool had to be paid for, which is ridiculous. The breakfast was included in our booking, but it was an absolute disaster. We had to walk to another road for breakfast, and once there, the selection was terrible. The place was dirty, with only one overwhelmed lady trying to serve everyone. The food options were practically non-existent. To make matters worse, I requested a late checkout and offered to pay for it. The rooms were empty, but the staff still refused, showing a complete lack of customer care. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The positive reviews and photos online are completely misleading. It’s shocking how poorly maintained this hotel is, and how little the staff seems to care about their guests' well-being. Avoid at all costs!

The service made all the difference here. We were a bit upset because our room was not ready at the check in time, but the staff were very kind and dealt with the situation very professionally. The hotel is beautiful, the pools, spacious bedrooms and the food was great, breakfast was so good. We had some sushi in the evening and although me and my partner are not into alcohol, we did try a pina colada at the pool and they were outstanding. Amazing spa, perfect for an after beach day. Everybody we met was always so helpful.

The rooms were ok, we had 2 doubles. Sea view was not worth the extra cost and our girls had an inland room which was much nicer and bigger. Ours was long and thin, had to shuffle around the bed to use the bathroom. Décor was dated, not great storage, only 1 power point that could only be used once we unplugged the telephone, TV didn’t work, bathroom very dated, rooms extremely clean though and cleaners were very polite. Outside was gorgeous, cannot fault the pool area and seating. Very high standard at the evening restaurant and bar. Staff were 50/50 in regards to customer service. The first morning after we had arrived very late the previous night, 2 of the staff working were very rude and abrupt, we were very taken aback. They told us we couldn't put a towel out to reserve 2 sunbeds for our girls even though they were due down to the pool in 5 minutes. The German lady member of staff shouted No, No, No across at us and then berated us, giving us a very stern dressing down, repeating the rules regarding reserving beds over and over. There was no signs indicating this and nothing in the handbook. I understood this was their policy however there are ways of speaking to paying guests and this behaviour was totally unacceptable. When our girls came down 5 minutes later before they even had a chance to lay their towel on the bed, another Brazilian guy working there told them very firmly, they are 15 years old, that they couldn't reserve beds. They were just trying to sit down, this was not necessary and pointless, they were really upset. The other members of staff were lovely however, very welcoming, accommodating and always had time to be polite. A huge shout out to Luciana, what a beautiful, professional lady, an asset to the hotel. Would i stay there again, unfortunately not. The rude staff took alot of the enjoyment out of the hotel. Pretty sour faced throughout our stay. We got the impression they wasn't over keen of English guests and cater just for the German ones.

This was a lovely hotel! Staff was very friendly and helpful to span-glish speaking Americans! I did my best! The breakfast buffet was awesome! They even helped coordinate a rental car for our day excursion across the island!! My only disappointment was I underestimated the time and distance to/ from Palma. Camp de Mar is a quaint beach town! The bus system is great going to/ from Port d’Andratx.

We only stayed one night but we really liked the room, the treatment was very good and it has a quite large and beautiful spa. We took a room with a large bed and it was super comfortable and the room had everything. We will surely repeat again.

Have just returned from a fabulous stay here with my Daughter. We had a beautiful sea view room and stayed B&B. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Fridge was appreciated to keep drinks cold. There was no kettle or iron but we managed ok. Breakfast choice was very good from cereals, fresh fruit, cold meats and bread. Pastries, cakes to a cooked breakfast. Definitely something for everyone. Various juices, and choice of different coffee and tea. The pool was small but not busy. Beach is beautiful sunbeds for the day were €19.95 Lovely restaurants along the sea front lits of choice. Main streets behind this do become very busy and noisy as the evening goes on but overall, we slept well, little disturbance at times but not a real issue for us. Taxi from the airport was €40 and took 30 minutes. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and we would return here.

Hi, Hola, Hej! We, me and my mum went to this hotell between 3/9-13/9 - 10 days! We did really enjoyed the time here and I did a quick review above earlier, when we’d left and checked out from the hotel; that we recommend this hotel. But here comes a more detailed and a little bit more in-depth review cause this hotel really deserve that! Treatment/Service We’re so thankful and satisfied with the all the staffs treatment. When we arrived, pretty late we get a professional welcoming from the receptionist and did get well informed about the ruled of conduct and about the area around (supermarkets etc.) Each of you was so kind and helpful with exactly everything. You did always get a smile when you passed and if you had a question or something to solve, it was never a problem. Perfect English of course so no worries if you don’t spak Spanish or cathalan. Cleaning Topnotch cleaned rooms and areas every day! Don’t understand what people who says it was dirty is talking about above in other reviews. Cause that’s not true! Always fixed beds, clean floors, clean towels and fresh every single day. The cleaners even fold things in the rooms… We want to give a special thanks to: Betsy - one of the cleaners Paula, Chris and Toni in the restaurants Alicia and her colleage in the reception, unfortunately we don’t know his name but he was the first one we’d met when arriving on the night and he did helped us with many questions and other things we wondered in. The hotel in general To ”only” be ranked with three stars *** this hotel really lives up to expectations and more. Just want to say. You get value for the money. Also has a nice constitution both outside and inside in the public spaces. Rooms The rooms is tiny and cozy, whole the interior is very fresh with light gray parquet floor/furnitueres, white walls and blue/beige details on the textiles. Tiles and beautiful Mallorcan mosaik in the bathroom, shower behind a wall of glass and a shower head with really nice pressure. The room also has a little desk and a TV on the wall where you can watch both Spanish, German, English Chanels and news, even radio. The room is also equipped with enough many contacts for charching several products in the same time. Good storage space and hangers of course. In the bathroom there also is both vegan shampoo and shower gel with aloe vera - and its really nice to use after a whole day in the sun. Soft and comfortable beds. Nice curtains for the sun and a pretty big balcony. Comfort/Facilities/Property amenities At the Hotel, there’s a big and beautiful pool (in the night it has lights in different colours in the edges). In and between the pool is it sun-beds to lay on and a lots of chairs too of course. When you get a place on the sun-bed, you also have a little extra-area to just take a little bath and a lot of place to just sit. Not a problem to get a good place both on the beds and in the chairs. Dates: October 2024 Room: Double - Sea Views Booking: Direct - Half Board Positives: Friendly & attentive staff. Both at counter and in restaurant, staff was efficient, attentive & friendly. Location is amazing, just at the beach, even though road between hotel & beach is little busy but due to the rooms being on the back side the traffic noise is not disturbing. Beach is nice and just accross the road. Loads of choice for restaurants of few international cuisines. I tried Thai & Mexican cuisines nearby & both were pretty decent. There is a mini supermarket around 200 metres away at street Av. de la Platja. Other facilities available nearby such as Banks, pharmacy etc. as well as usual shops for tourists. Negatives: Rooms are not as big as it looks in pictures with a very strange layout. The wash basin is in room instead of attached bath. That means bathroom has no sink, and after using the toilet you have to come into room to wash hands. Also you dont have your own privacy if you want to use wash basin, my wife couldn't use phone or watch TV when I was shaving and openning tap at times. There is a light hanging in coner that I banged my head each time when I tried to reach the drawer in side table to get my wallet. So I must say that room layout is not practical. Not enough storage space in room, specially no place to put suitcases. You can move your stuff from suitcase to cupboard & drawers but where would you put your empty suitcases? Other very odd thing was ”Sea Views” room, I paid for ”Sea View” but I actually got the ”Tree view” (Please check attached pic). I did mention it at reception but there was no real response about it. It may be Sea View on fourth floor but first & second floor you only get Tree View. Also Balcony is too small and impractical. No real pool, there are two large tubs available to dip yourself but no real swimming pools. Both tubs are are half a metre to 0.85 metre deep. So if you want a swim the only option is beach. There is no activity around pool, the little bar in pool area remained closed during our stay, people were going downstairs to get drinks. Breakfast: Average, the choice of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs (or you can ask for an omelette freshly made), hash brown,beans & veggies in hot food. In cold, choice of Salami / ham with few kinds of cheese. Basic choice of fruit (Pineapple/melon/water melon mainly). I personally felt that quality of products is on lower side. Limited choice of bread only one kind of brown bread. Dinner: I regretted booking half board. That should be enough to tell about dinner. My recommendation, if you dont mind wash basin in room & not in bathroom then plz make sure that you get a room on third or fourth floor. Half board is not recommended.
