My job was on the Internet and it was very difficult. - Price benefit balance; average. - Our room was looking at the highway. Villa Castiglione is located on one of the hills surrounding Florence, it is a peaceful and quiet place surrounded by villas and vines. Converted monastery now features artistically decorated interiors. Rooms are just spacious enough for a lovely stay, with ensuite modern bathroom. It is as seen on photos, clean and the staff speak English - even though they appear a bit slow and bored, they were friendly and very helpful, as well as offering advice on travel. Parking is free on the premises but be prepared for narrow windy road to reach the place. Breakfast has enough variety, but don't expect healthy options, it is generally pastries, yoghurt, cereal and eggs. Great coffee, as this is Italy, of course. Dinner is officially served from 7.30 but nobody started serving until 8pm and the menu is rather limited, lacking simple options for tired travellers such as soup or salad - and it was expensive, considering value for money. All in all, this was a great find and we can recommend the Villa.

My daughter, son-in-law, and I were traveling from Switzerland to Italy via the train system. We had 2 rooms reserved for Monday and Tuesday and were then moving on to Rome. My daughter picked this hotel because we had been staying in the city and we were looking for something a little different. We missed our connection in Milan, due to mechanical problems on our initial train. Once we arrived in Florence, we waited over 1/2 hour for a taxi, at the train station, for our roughly 20 minute ride out of the city and to the hotel. Taxi dropped us off at the reception area, which was dark, and ended up having to call to have someone check us in. The man who came was very nice and helpful and felt bad that we hadn't eaten and that the on-site restaurant was closed on Monday. Also, the pool we were really looking forward to, closed at dark. He drove us to our rooms, which would have been 1/2 mile walk, and ordered pizza's for us. We did not get the rooms we had booked, and instead were each ”upgraded to a villa”. There was plenty of room, that's for sure! They were very gothic and quit creepy in the dark. My room key was a skelton key that had to be played with to work and the lighting inside and out was very poor. I found my mattress to be quite hard and uncomforable. I'll admit the villa was better in the daylight. The man that was at the reception house in the morning was abrupt and not terribly friendly, but did obtain a taxi for our trip back into Florence. On the plus side, the view from our villa was fantastic. I got up early to catch the sun rising over Florence. For someone looking for housing with lots of room, character and relaxation, this is your place. Best suited from someone who wants to prepare their own meals and has transportation, as it's a long dangerous (winding road) walk into town for anything you need, or an expensive taxi ride to and from.

This was the perfect base for our family holiday. The hotel is immaculately clean, comfortable and spacious. Because there are only ten rooms, you often have the pool or the lounge to yourself. The vibe is low-key and comfortable - genuinely relaxing and charming! The staff are friendly and knowledgable, they helped make our holiday our best ever and we owe them our thanks. Definitely ask Lorenzo to arrange a wine tour, or other visits in the region. We arrived late on the first night and the food Angela made up for us was the best meal of the holiday (which is saying something for this part of the world). The centre of Florence is a short drive or bus away, there's a supermarket (and bus stop) a 10 minute walk away, if that's your sort of thing, or you can just relax at the hotel in perfect luxury.

My husband and I just returned from a week at this beautiful wine and olive oil small luxury resort and give our experience five stars! The setting, accommodations and amazing personable staff made our trip something we will always cherish. Gloria helped me plan the our stay six months prior to our arrival and guided us to local tours and activities. They arranged taxi's for our trips in to Florence and were flexible in helping us when our plans change unexpectedly. The restaurant staff were all friendly and welcoming and the dinner and lunch menu's was delicious. We toured the small winery on the property and sampled the olive oils and wines in the small tasting room. The villa was a former nunnery has a wonderful history and the ancient stone building around the property are impressive and blend in beautifully into the Tuscan landscape. Impruenta is the local village walking distance from the resort and we participated in their weekend market and church service which was very special. The small size of the resort made us feel like part of their family and we so look forward to returning on our next Tuscany adventure.
