Fabulous luxury lodge right by the beautiful Cook’s Beach, just a few minutes walk away. This is such a great place to chill and we were well looked after by our host Anne who is probably one of the best tour guides in NZ. Loved catching the nearby ferry to Whitingia where the Marine Bay Eatery served up a great menu and then Kaizen in Cooks bay village offered some of the tastiest fusion food in NZ. Super base and would come back!

Beautiful house and spacious light airy room. Lovely welcome and extremely hospitable and knowledgeable host Anne. Peaceful setting. Perfect getaway, short walk to magnificent clean, unspoiled beach and trails. Would highly recommend.

970 Lonely Bay is in a lovely spot with a nice garden and a short walk to a beautiful beach. Anne the manager is a great host and was very welcoming and informative about things to do and places to eat. The lodge was nicely furnished and one of the cleanest places we stayed whilst in New Zealand. Only reason for giving 4 stars not 5 is because we had the Atrium suite, and our travel agent had not explained to us that this was on the ground floor and adjacent to public rooms and therefore had the possibility to be less private. As it was, there were few other guests so we had a good experience. And thank you for the Auckland suggestions Anne, they were great!

Beautiful and Lovely lodge. Thé room very nice with terrasse. Thé garden so great near the beach. 5 mn by foot. Excellent breakfast with croissant, éggs, fruits, yaourt … The manager Anne is helpful and very nice. It was a pleasure to stay but not enough !

This property is described as Luxury Boutique Accommodation. On entering this property we were impressed - the entrance hallway, stairs and lounge areas look to be good. The host, Anne, was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. good access to the beach. However our room was only average - furniture was looking tired, the bedding, especially the pillows smelt unclean and were very uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning, even though the room was in full sun, we had access to a fan that was rusty. The bathroom was dirty, the toilet had brown stains in the bottom, the loo brush was indescribable and the floor and shower had black stains. This is a wooden property - we don't recall seeing smoke alarms, extinguishers or evacuation notices. Outside areas were poorly maintained, although the grass was cut, patio areas were dirty and stained, garden seat had tree debris over them.

We spent two wonderful nights here. Ann is a generous host, chilled wine awaited us, breakfast each morning was bountiful with fresh fruit, croissants and eggs bacon etc if desired. Rooms are fresh and we had additional sitting space overlooking the garden. The quiet beach is 5 minute stroll away. Ann provided great recommendations for food and for sight seeing.

The location is perfect for the beach, our host Ann was a great host, on arrival a nice bottle of chilled wine was already in our fridge, breakfast was also lovely, fresh fruits, yoghurts, croissants and hot freshly cooked eggs bacon etc. We had the atrium suite on the ground floor which gave us a large sitting area to relax in.

We arrived here from Auckland by car and were surprised how warm we were welcomed by Anne who is running the place. Her warmness and kindness were amazing and she really made our stay with her hints of what to do and where to eat exceptional. Our room hat a fantastic balcony overlooking the beach which is 5 minutes walk away. In your room some wine awaits you and the breakfast on a common table is great. I dont think you can find in this area a more charming way to stay overnight.

We stayed here for two nights. Great location for the beach and for exploring the coastline. We had a large spacious room with a verandah and a large bathroom. Everything is tastefully and thoughtfully arranged. It’s the kind of place you relax the moment you enter it. Anne, who runs the lodge, could not have been a better host. She booked restaurants for us and gave us ideas for exploring the local area. Breakfast was superb - fruit salad, yogurt, granola, muesli, croissants, jams, eggs, toast. Good wi-if if you need to access emails/work
