Ouvane Falls

It was stunning scenery. The family room was great and nice and clean. Wow the breakfast was to die for. The staff were lovely and friendly. When I'm that way again I most definitely will book there

Room was old fashioned & freezing ( no knobs on rad to adjust). Kettle dirty inside. Pillows was like pancakes & very thin duvets. Stairs to room was filthy. Hot Breakfast was tasty but no choice other than full Irish.

Staff seemed disinterested in the place. Rooms were double booked. Dinner service in restaurant and pub was terrible. Room’s bathroom was filthy. Mold on bottom of cheap shower curtain, inexcusable. Confusing entrance. Carpet going up stairs was disgusting. Absolute joke they charged $165 Euros for this dump.

The property is about 3mls from any restaurant and the road back to Bantry is unlit and not pedestrian paved in places. Local taxi unable to collect for 2hrs and the local restaurants apparently don’t offer deliveries. Staff unhelpful and more interested in drinking with the ‘locals’ Room clean but dated. Communal areas ‘worn’. Probably not seen at its best but ‘cheap overnight accommodation’

We booked our “sea view” rooms three months in advance, while upon arrival the staff was surprised saying “you have one room”. After we demonstrated our receipt, wow, what a surprise - “we cannot find the key deem the second room”… we got the noisiest room, looking at the crossroad. In the morning, during check out two ladies and their assistant were not able to make the credit card machine functioning during 40 minutes

Check in at 6pm was difficult and despite 2 emails to the Ouvane, we received no reply and had to take a chance on being able to arrive earlier; when I raised this on arrival the reply was a grunt. The room was very cold and no one came back on my request for some heat. Zero privacy was provided by the huge windows facing the car park and the main road without even net curtains. Breakfast was served on the basis of ‘do you want food?’ there was no menu, vegan or vegetarian options (let alone gluten/ dairy free) and continental breakfast was cornflakes (no sign of a croissant or scone). The style of service at breakfast with bowls of minimal choice of edibles half covered with cling film and no milk on the tables left a lot to be desired and as for the warm hospitality and welcome Ireland is famous for; it simply wasn’t there, rather their model was based on Fawlty Towers. For €180 for one night it was very overpriced.

Beautiful area right on the bay. Restaurant has a lovely patio with views of the falls and bay. Room clean and comfortable.

Ouvane falls is in a beautiful location . The bedroom was comfortable and very clean . The breakfast was adequate.

The staff were lovely. There is a hotel shuttle into town which is convenient as the town is close but not walking distance. I did not like the 6pm check in but knew that in advance. The grounds are lovely with a gurgling stream feeding into a lake. It’s very picturesque and worth a late check in.
