Holiday Inn Express: Corpus Christi - Beachfront

This hotel is awful. Terrible. We paid $247 for a water view room that was the nastiest room I’ve seen. The fixtures were dated, the door of our room like someone tried breaking into it, the toilet stopped flushing. Thankfully, my fiancé was able to correct it. There was rust on a couple of the vents, the walls in the hallway were beat up! This hotel is not worth the money. Thankfully, we were only there one night. We got out of there as early as possible.

I wish I had read the reviews before booking…the air conditioner did not cool the room even after having maintenance come and look at it. Mold in the room (pic included). The soda that they sell at the front desk and vending machines are expired and flat. Elevator buttons broken. Very outdated and dirty throughout the hotel. Only good thing about this hotel is that it’s very close to the beach.

Extremely disappointed. I will start with the parking situation.. you have to pay for parking with no guarantee to find a parking space . Our room was hot the air conditioning kept the room a cool 77 degrees. We received zero room service. I shut the blinds in an attempt to keep the room cool and when I moved them cockroaches scrambled out. The breakfast was cold, however, the kitchen staff were very friendly. Walked down to check the pool out and found it to be dirty as well. The water was so cloudy you could not see the bottom. We decided to check out the outdoor bar area. That was not terrible. However, stay up there don’t go down to the beach area. This area was littered with trash. Before we departed, I spoke with a hotel employee. He told me employee morale is at an all time low. I would avoid this place, I was expecting more for the money. I was extremely disappointed.

The hotel is full of mold. From the lobby to the hotel room. There is no hot water, then the cold water shower runs totally out. The floor is full of sand and dirty. Then there is a big crack in the wall going to patio. I have never seen a hotel in finish deplorable condition. The hotel charges 20$ if you arrive at 3pm instead of 4pm. You are also charged for parking but advertise for free parking. We left after the cold water shower ran out.

In my business travels never have I ever stayed at a worst place in my 50 years of travels... 1. Checked in on Monday September 1st. There were 2 rooms rented for 7 days. After getting to the room, I found out there was no hot water. I complained to front desk, there response was let the water run for about 20 - 30 minutes... and it should be ok. We'll that didn't work... contacted front desk again, there response we are working on it be patient. We'll After 7 days still no hot water. 2. No one has contacted me to apologize or offer some compensation. 3. The rooms and halls smell of pot, musky odor, and has a stinch... so I check out Monday a week later, still no hot water, I am so tempted to call the health department. I am so offended the manager has not attempted to contact me about this sad situation.

They need to close this place down. If I could, it would be given a negative negative. Save yourself the disgrace of staying here. From the moment we arrived it was dismal failure. The automatic doors did not work (both the rotating one and the regular doors). You come in to a very dated front desk area. Granted it an older hotel, but a little cleaning goes a long way. It would not have been so bad the light fixture/ chandelier wasn't dirty with bugs and water stains on the ceiling. I booked 2 rooms with a request for connection rooms, as we are visit with younger kids (ages 7 all the way to 17months, 5 kids in total). They didn't have the rooms on the same floor, after inquiring then about cancellation beavuse I'm not going to have my children sleep by themselves, Curtiss, the Front manager on duty, informed me that if I cancelled I will be charged for the Saturday both rooms and just refunded Sunday even if we haven't checked in to the hotel. He went to check some other rooms and came back and told me he can put us in the same floor but next door. Next door meant 20 doors down!!!. The beds were nasty (bugs and other stuff) the other room was not even cleaned. We got moved to another floor (connecting rooms), it got worse....MOLD and nasty beds. Needless to say that we all spent the night in one room without the mold. 3 adults and 5 kids in 1 room with 2 double beds. We did check out that morning. This was a horrible vacation and thank.you to Emerald Beach Hotel for ruining it. I have a lot more to say but do not have the energy to exhaust on it. I just want a FULL refund back and NOT the partial one they sent.

The beds are comfortable. That is the end of the good stuff. You have to pay $10 a day for parking now, but there is no guarantee you will have a parking spot as the lot is small and always full. We did not have hot water the whole stay, and the front desk didn't care when it was reported. There is one front desk guy who is especially rude at all times and acts like you are bothering him by getting a room there. I could not walk around without socks, because I would feel how dirty the floor was with my bare feet. My socks would end up filthy. They seemed to have a shortage of towels. There was a 6 hour power outage during my stay (supposedly there was a car accident that knocked out the power), and the stairwells did not have emergency lights. AND the stairwells are never locked, so anyone can walk in at anytime. The air conditioner was seriously malfunctioning and was very loud and clanky. It had to be shut on and off several times to get it to start cooling again. We had two cars and both had ants and spiders upon leaving the parking lot.

Terrible, nasty NOT STAY HERE !!!! Worn out and rusted! (I know it’s the beach and it’s hard to keep things clean but this was ridiculous) I ask for a refund and was told NO! I later found out through sources that the hotel was going to go through renovations! The pictures of the rooms on the website are FALSE representation of the rooms!!!! We just endured the cost of the hotel and went elsewhere!

Good evening, I, Dr. Courtney Harvey checked into the Emerald Beach Hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas this evening. Upon checking into the hotel, I noticed that the lobby was unkept with regard to water and dirt tracked through the lobby by people who had been in the pool area. I also observed one patron requesting a refund due to purchasing a dedicated parking space for which there were no parking slots. She was told she would be refunded the cost. Another patron requested a refund for the entire hotel stay because the air condition in his room did not work and there was no parking. I asked the hotel representative what we were supposed to do if there was no parking available, to which he replied there was parking across the street in a church parking lot. This is unacceptable given the hotel room for a 2-night stay costs 350.00 which was immediately taken from my checking account without the opportunity to be refunded in a timeframe that would allow my family to find another hotel to stay at for our desired price point. We got our room keys and proceeded to the elevator. Another patron advised that we needed to check our hot water because she had none and staff was not being helpful. In addition, only 1 of 2 elevators was operational, and guests were waiting up to 10 minutes to get to their rooms and/or crowding onto the elevator. When me and my husband arrived at our room, the hotel door was wide open and moths were flying around. We went back downstairs and reported the situation to the representative and voiced our concerns regarding the unsafe environmental conditions of the hotel: a. having to park across the street, b. wet floors in the lobby, c. only 1 of 2 elevators working which resulted in overcrowding on the elevator, d. an open door to a hotel room someone just checked into, e. air conditioning not working in certain rooms with Texas temperatures at over 100 degrees, and f. some rooms being without hot water, which isn't a safety issue but is certainly a discomfort at almost $400.00 for a 2-night stay. When we got assigned a second room, the conditions for $350 were subpar. For example, the television did not work for more than 5 minutes. There was no signal. I later recalled that when I stayed here years ago that I was advised by hotel representatives that tv signals were subpar depending on the position of your hotel room. To top it all off, I was charged a $100 hold for incidentals. All together, this was a $450 hotel stay for these subpar, and unsafe conditions. This is unacceptable.
