Hotel Flocons is just as good as it looks on the website, it’s a traditional style, very cosy, friendly hotel and the location is amazing! The manager/ owner Francois is very friendly, larger than life character and loves to show you how fresh and local the produce used in the restaurant is! Kevin the head waiter is a super star, he quietly but efficiently and very capably attends to your every request (he had our family group completely sussed)! Thank you to all the staff for looking after us so well, from Philipe (behind the bar) to Anna running the Office (I think I’ve got that right) and to the friendly cleaners. The Hotel sits in a fantastic position RIGHT next to the chairlift and beside the slope. There’s only a short walk up the road to the bubble, lift pass office and ski hire shop. There are buses between the villages of the Courchevel Valley however they are a little sporadic so leave plenty of time if you are relying on them! We walked to Aquamotion one afternoon to have a swim and it only took us about 15 minutes. The village of 1550 is quiet but there was plenty there for our family. We also loved the Luge run from 1850 which ends at the base of the bubble, it was crazy fun! Remember to take a helmet and wear your skiing clothes! The rooms in the Hotel were cosy but very functional and the shower was always hot. We slept well and even had the window open at night as it was so warm. We had a room at the back so didn’t have a view of the skiing. My parents had a beautiful room at the front of the hotel with a bath and a lovely balcony which was fab for mum to watch us skiing down! Now for the food… we love our food…. The breakfast was continental with bells on! Choice of cereals/muesli, Croissants, pain chocolates, fresh baguettes and their ‘normal’ bread and then also (usually) fresh brioche loaf and pancakes! There was fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, cheese and ham. The hot options were the let down (although we didn’t exactly ‘need’ it): sausages (more like hot dogs NOT nice) and scrambled eggs (lovely)! On to dinner/supper (NB No cakes or soup etc you are not in a Chalet Hotel!) it is a set menu of 3 courses and a cheese course. I enjoyed absolutely EVERYTHING on the menu, the kids and my husband (non cheese) had a couple of swaps but these were discussed with Francois and delicious too! The desserts were added to/changed each night so you could keep having your favourite til it was finished or have a different dessert every night (which is what I did)! I have never eaten so much cheese in my life, a selection of 4/5 cheeses each night! We ‘found’ the Hotel through Inghams but you can book straight in with them! I hope to go again one day!
