Casa Montalvo Bed & Breakfast

Peaceful and conveniently located, we loved our stay at Casa Montalvo. The beds are very comfortable, as are the room amenities. The common spaces are also a major plus! There’s a beautiful garden and a lovely covered patio. Both have great WiFi, which we used to check emails and have a couple video meetings. Sonia is very sweet, and helped us arranges taxis and let us hang out in the garden while we waited for our flight. Highly recommend!

Everything in the house is clean and in perfect shape, no noise in there, the Owner always available, friendly and helpful.

Excellent location and room, will stay again when going to Cuenca

Casa Montalvo was a lovely place to stay and conveniently located, and our hostess Sonia was gracious and helpful. I recommend staying here wholeheartedly. I do want to give other travelers a heads-up that upon arrival you will be expected to either pay in cash (we did not arrive with enough for a four night stay in one of the suites) or, in order to pay with a credit card, you will have to pay an additional fee and have your photograph taken on her phone for some sort of payment app - this was not disclosed and came as an unpleasant surprise. Again, I recommend Casa Montalvo and Sonia wholeheartedly, but this payment requirements should be made clear when booking on **********

We had the most amazing time in Cuenca at this B&B. Sonia is the best host. She was so helpful with hints and recommandations for our stay. The hotel itself is breathtaking, it gives the impression to enter an oasis in the city. It is luminous, smells amazing (yes you read right) and the decor is extremely well though and classy, lots of antiquities, and warm. The cleanliness is impeccable and this was the only hotel during our 2 weeks trip that would clean our room and provide us with fresh towels everyday. Sonia is an elegant and adorable woman who makes us delicious and healthy breakfasts. We would come back FOR SURE and if there is availability, don't look further and choose this amazing B&B, you won't be disapointed.

We visit Cuenca a few times every year and this has become our go to hotel in El Centro. Cuenca has many little boutique hotels with historic architecture and personal service. Casa Montalvo is just a cut above the rest. Sonia‘s personal service is warm and welcoming and, even though this hotel is right in the heart of downtown, it is amazingly peaceful. And, the thing that really sets it apart is the little garden out back where you can sit and enjoy coffee or tea, read a book, or just contemplate life.

Casa Montalvo is a beautiful B&B, where you feel right at home. Sonia, the host, is a wonderful lady with exquisite taste. The home is a renovated colonial home. Each room is decorated with perfectly-preserved-antique furniture of the highest quality. The house is a retreat as well as a mini museum. It is difficult not to admire every piece of furniture and decor perfectly curated around the house. The rooms are comfortable and different parts of the home can be enjoyed by guests like the traditional colonial backyard and garden in the back of the house, which houses multiple flowers and fruit trees. The location of this B&B is very central and allows you to explore the city of Cuenca by foot or by requesting a taxi. Sonia offers a natural and delicious breakfast to jumpstart your day. When in Cuenca, we will certainly stay in this hotel again. It was simply wonderful!!

I stayed here for a couple of days. The room was small, but cosy and clean. Sonia is an exellent host - prepares simple but very nice breakfast and is very helpful with advice. The location is just fine, everything is within walking distance. If you're looking for a clean and cosy place to stay then I'd definitely recommend this place. I very much enjoyed it and would gladly return here if ever visiting Cuenca again.

Beautiful place in a great location. Amazing gardens and great decor. Excellent food and nice warm service. I highly recommend it.
