The Seafield Arms-Cullen

This was our first stay at the Seafield Arms and all the staff we encountered were lovely, very friendly and accommodating. We had drinks and a really good meal in the bar in the evening, which was delicious with good portions. We were allocated a room at the back which was quite convoluted to get to overlooking the car park and it was quite noisy when the bar singer played. It was an average size room with a comfortable large bed but quite dark and on closer look the bathroom ceiling was peeling, the paintwork had scuffs and stains and there were hairs and small flies in the bathroom. The room only rate was £190 which is pretty steep for what we got but luckily we had a voucher, otherwise we would have been sorely disappointed.

We stayed for two nights for our tenth wedding anniversary. What a fantastic hotel. Gorgeous room which was spotless, fantastic friendly staff and wonderful food. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful feel to it. We will be back!

If you want great food then this is the place to go for dinner in Cullen. When chose Bar 19 to eat it. Had a lovely meal of Monkfish curry and the other half had pork belly burger and fries. Food is of a high standard, fresh and beautifully served. Service staff were extremely attentive. Met friends afterwards in the bar and cocktail of the week was Pina Colada, so I had to have one! Good selection of gin and wines and fever tree tonics. Have booked for our anniversary at end of the month. Can't wait.

For £140, room only, I have to give this hotel a poor rating. The room itself was nice enough, apart from the fact there’s no mirror anywhere near a power socket, so my wife couldn’t dry her hair easily. The most annoying thing is we were in a completely separate building from the main hotel, like they bought some cottages nearby. These are a walk up a hill and then we had to go up some stairs as well, with cases. This isn’t remotely acceptable for £140, if we wanted a small air BnB apartment we’d have got one! We won’t be back to this ‘hotel’, which doesn’t actually feel like a hotel at all, that’s certain.

The hotel is beautiful but the menu for being a 5 star rated hotel is very limited and pricey. I ordered the steak burger and the burger was raw throughout. The Bun was soggy and had no taste the jest bit was the brisket on top. My friend had the cajun chicken salad it was very basic lettuce leaves and tomatoes nothing else salad on the plate, no coleslaw, cucumber, anything. To her horror a dead spider was in the lettuce and unfortunately she had eaten most of it by the time he was found. We informed the waiter and he was very polite and appologetic. We got free deserts But they too were not homemade and not fesh tasting. I wouldn't recommend food but the hotel looks lovely

We were really looking forward to our meal at The Seafield Arms as the menu looked interesting as did the restaurant website. The waiters were attentive and friendly and we ordered both starters and main course. Unfortunately, something went wrong with our order and after an hour waiting for our staters, we had to reorder our meals. As we were restricted for time, we only reordered the main courses. Although the waiter was very apologetic and the food when it arrived was excellent, by the time the main course arrived, we were the only ones left in the restaurant. During our meal we then had to put up with the staff spraying down table tops and moving chairs around us in preparation for the next day. At no point did we see any signs of the hotel/ restaurant management whom we had expected some kind of apology from and no remuneration was offered on the bill. In summary, what should have been a great evening out was spoilt by a lack of apology/acknowledgment from the hotel management.

The website promises fabulous food. It wasn’t, pub food at a push with high end restaurant prices. Whoever the chef is needs a lesson in seasoning and adaptation. A £40 fillet. Not seasoned at all. Served with 3 cherry tomatoes and a mushroom!! Fries are extra and at nearly £5 for fries, I was expecting amazing. They were awful. As a prominent hotel restaurant in the town you expect excellence. I gave it two stars as the staff (all youngsters) tried their best.

My parents had booked a table for 11 for Sunday lunch to celebrate some birthdays. They arrived first and were greeted at reception by a lady who, rather than showing them to their table, pointed them in the general direction. Mum then returned to the desk to ask if she was at the right table as there were three individual tables rather than the table for 11 she had booked - the receptionist told her to push the tables together if she wanted… my mum is in her late 70’s and dad in his 80’s. We arrived slightly later and found the table ourselves. I then took my daughter to the toilet and on asking the receptionist where the toilet was got a short and not especially helpful response. Felt like I was interrupting her chat with the barman. The waiter who served us was very nice and the food was ok but the day was definitely spoilt by the way my parents were treated. I appreciate maybe the lady was maybe having a bad day but we didn’t deserve to be treated like an inconvenience. Manners cost nothing.

I knew to book after being turned away previously and sure enough it was very busy. Food was excellent and of a quality you'd expect for the price. Three of us enjoyed our meals and were happy with the service, we will be back. Outside terrace looked inviting in the sunshine but we ate in the bar.
