Excellent service. Lovely food. Helpful staff. Good location.

We stayed in a king room which was very spacious and comfortable. The furnishings are suited to the age of the property and everything was spotlessly clean. We sat outside having drinks in the sunshine then chose to eat our evening meal in the bar (and it was good pub grub). We had a very comfortable nights sleep, followed by a nicely cooked breakfast, served by friendly staff. Just what you want for a short break. Parking wasn’t a problem when we arrived but it got very busy the next morning, so spaces were limited near the hotel.

Wonderful menu excellent service reasonably priced. Cannot fault it have been several times always spot on!! Different areas to sit.we were in the courtyard this time. Atmosphere always good.lots of people outside enjoying the sunshine

From the point of arrival / checking in, to departure, all staff were excellent & v helpful. Breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice and the evening meal we had one night was outstanding (10 out of 10). Rooms were well equipped / spacious and v clean. A good selection of real ale is available and as part of a cycling group our bikes were left in secure storage. Excellent all round. Highly recommended 👍

Just returned after a long weekend with Berkhamsted Cycling Club friends. Ideal location for Harrogate, Helmsley, Castle Howard. Staff were excellent, fantastic full English breakfast, buzzing bar & lovely dinners in the restaurant.

The food was excellent,had the belly pork for a starter followed by steak pie would highly recommend this place. Staff were all friendly with a good menu and good selection on beers . Probably worth booking in advance as seems a very busy place

My wife and I had a wonderful two night stay. Fantastic value and high quality food - all served with caring staff. The fish and chips were outstanding and Gluten Free options in abundance. We’ll be back as the location was perfect and the bar was busy.

We held our small wedding for 20 people here. We wanted a typically Yorkshire Country venue with bedrooms for our guests from down south to stay at, and this was the ideal place for us. As locals, it has a homely country feel when we visit. We booked 4 rooms for 8 of our guests who said the rooms were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. All individually decorated. We had a meal for 22 in the restaurant in the afternoon after our wedding ceremony (held in Northallerton), and spent the remainder of the afternoon and evening sat outside in the sun with drinks from the bar in the outside seating area facing the market place. Our guests chose from an individual menu designed for our Yorkshire themed wedding by the chef. The choice of food on the menu was delicious and difficult to choose from it sounded so good. We made our choices on line prior to the day on a self booking system which was very easy to navigate around. The food did not disappoint and was amazing. All our guests commented on what a fine dining experience it was and that they would remember this wedding for the great food. The staff were wonderful; leading up to our day with attention to detail with all we requested, to our guests staying at the hotel checking out of the hotel 2 days later. I cannot praise Paul the manager and his team enough, for being fantastic hosts and the friendly attentive service . What a great team everything was perfect. Everyone at the George made our small, intimate wedding a magical day. I would thoroughly recommend this venue for a special celebration. Keep up the amazing work!
