Cromwell House

The room had not been cleaned and prepared to acceptable standards. The white pillows had some stains, and it looked like the covers had just been pulled up from when the previous occupier had left. Creased linen and stained pillows were really a put off. The adjoining shower was quite disgusting in that there was someone else's s hair on the floor from a previous stay. Parking is a bit of a nightmare, which is typical of the town, but the establishment could at least provide validated parking similarly to others in the area. The establishment is more of a halfway house than a hotel. Unfortunately, I arrived just after 18h00 when there was no one at reception who could have assisted with resolving some of the challenges, although to be they were available on the phone and were able to provide directions on how to access the property as well as where to find parking.

Ideally situated on Cavendish Place, and literally a 2-3 mins walk down to Eastbourne's Pier. Clean room & bathroom, offering a comfortable, single bed, tv, chest of drawers, wardrobe, tea/coffee making facilities, sufficient toiletries, hair dryer on request. Friendly proprietor. Quite safe & secure, all in all.

On arrival I was given a room but there was no heating so it was very cold. The Manger happily moved me to another room with a heater in which was better. The room itself was clean and in good condition with plenty of tea/coffee. The mattress though was very hard, not comfortable at all and quite crunchy. The noise from outside was easily heard (which can't be helped I imagine) but still was a loud room to have. The staff were helpful and all in all for the price I paid I can't really complain. I don't think I would return, purely as the bed made sleep quote hard.

Uncomfortable bed, freezing cold room , not very clean apart from the bed , but the duvet was very basic & not warm at all dirty shower tray it's in need of a refurbishment,the windows & paint work were dirty & need a really good clean the net curtains are shocking the kettle was full of lime scale the tea making was very basic too !the breakfast was OK but not much of it , glad we only had 2 nights ! Would not recommend..

It was disappointing that there was a £10 limit on breakfast, when £15 would have been more reasonable.

No staff on premises, managed remotely. Had to sit on door step for 55 mins upon arrival before i could reach someone by phone. People living next door said that this has happened a few times. Breakfast not on sight. Was going to be cafe in next street, then got changed overnight (note under room door) to another cafe a 5 mins walk away (in the rain)

Hard bed and found more than a few hairs… wasn’t told the kitchen was being returned and so had to go out for breakfast. Also wasn’t told the allowance for said breakfast was £10 and anything over I would have to pay! The cafe was closed on my first morning here so that was not good either… only good thing was the beach was literally at the end of the street!

Stayed for 3 nights at around £100, well worth the money. The street my room overlooked could be quite noisy but that’s what you get in the town centre. Staff looked after me very well. Would recommend.

The owner of this establishment couldn't do enough for the five of us that stayed, put himself out especially to accommodate the parking facility at a very busy time. As regards to the hotel itself, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was made and served with care which matched the quality of the food.
