My birthday fell on a Monday this year but Madame, encouraged by the communicative Cedric, Belgian owner of La Providence, was able to book us a table for two in the evening. A pre-agreed menu of a corn soup starter, followed by spiced venison tacos was delicious. A recommended accompanying Mexican wine ( yes, Mexican wine in France! ) was fruity and vigorous and a almond cake complete with birthday candle concluded things. Our host Cedric was a knowledgeable and helpful fellow, keen to make a success of his restaurant and hotel. Reservations required well in advance in peak season. Bon appetite!
