Ellerby Country Inn

Very happy to have stayed at the Ellerby Country Inn with my fiance, beautifully located in the Yorkshire landscape. We stayed at the inn for 4 nights. The room was clean and tidy and we even had a small outside area. The room got tidied every day. Plus a new assor**ent of tea, water and cookies everyday. At breakfast you get to choose anything from the menu and/or from the breakfast table, the portions are very generous. I will definitely miss the English breakfast. We stayed in for diner one night, which also tasted great. The staff was very kind and made us feel welcome. We are going to recommend the Ellerby Country Inn to our friends and family. If we will return to the area we will book the Ellerby Country Inn again if possible.

Everything about the Ellerby was perfect. In particular the friendliness and professional of the staff and attention to detail throughout the hotel made our stay truly memorable. The menu and food were excellent. Highlights were the cheeseboard and breakfast. I can highly recommend the Ellerby and we are already planning our return trip.

The food & drinks are excellent! Great value for money, quality is perfect. Such friendly & attentive staff, great with dogs, would highly recommend. Would definitely return & would definitely book an overnight stay. Very near Staithes , definitely worth going for Sunday lunch

The restaurant was spacious and good decor. Two of the meals were very good, the gammon was tasty and not over cooked and one of the sea bass meals was very nice. However the beef lasagna was poor with very little beef, which for a meal costing nearly £18 was very disappointing. The other sea bass was eaten by somebody who has eaten sea bass all over Great Britain and unfortunately the comment was that it was very dry and not too tasty. Had the sea bass been frozen ? So, overall a disappointing experience, but the village of Ellerby was lovely, likewise Runswick Bay.

This was my first time stay. All staff interactions were very friendly and helpful. The food was good and advice on local beaches was first class

A warm welcome from the moment we walked through the door. Every member of staff was friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. The bar area is comfortable and cosy and the food great. Will definitely return.

I arrived really late but was made to feel welcome and given a bag of snacks. The room was spotless and warm. Bathroom was clean and bed was comfortable. I only stayed a few hours because I had to leave early but would go back again!

Second visit to ellerby on our stay in runswick Bay absolutely amazing food and staff lovely lady was talking to about winderemere don't ko her name so lovely was a staff member she was so attentive remembered us from the other day,can't recommend this pub enough its a must if your near ,thankyou be back next year

We went to the Whitby Goth Weekend and having initiallly booking a hotel 17miles from Whitby, I decided I would take a chance and try and find something closer. The WGW is huge and so I didn't hold much hope. However I found the Ellerby, 7miles away. I have an Emotional Support Dog and so needed a hotel that was dog friendly. They are. We were excited for our stay, it being our fist WGW, however we had worrying news about a family member the day before we left so it put our trip in jeopardy. So I called the hotel and they were so helpful and understanding about late cancellation or should we need to leave suddenly over the weekend. We didn't have to in the end. We then arrived late on the Friday due to floods closing the A59 and then a police cordon closing part of the diversion. After a 4.5 hour journey from Manchester we arrived gone 8pm, and had missed our 7pm table booking for dinner, but the Ellerby kept the kitchens open for us so we could eat. They were so considerate and kind to us and our little travel companion. What a lovely welcome we had. Our room was gorgeous, exceptionally clean, comfortable and even had doggy treats for our dog. I was travelling with my adult so the super king room was made into a Twin. The garden was lovely and was accessible directly from our room for us to take our dog outside which he enjoyed. Breakfast was plenty, buffet and cooked, and the owner even brought our dog his own sausage. They helped us get a taxi to Whitby and, throughout our stay and in the run up, were nothing but polite, caring, professional and absolutely lovely to us crazy, strange Goths turning up in the beautiful quiet hamlet that is Ellerby. We seriously could not have asked for more. EXCEPTIONAL!! We are returning next year for sure! Thanks to all there. We highly recommend the Ellerby whether we want a quiet weekend away or a comfortable base for exploring. Thoroughly lovely!!! 5*******+
