Loge Glacier National Park

Everyone was so friendly. The locomotive #5 was amazing. Very clean and had everything you need. Beds were so comfortable. Winds were very high and the kitchen lost ventilation power. This did not stop them they cooked our meat on a grill . It was delicious.

Husband and I stayed in a cabin, for 9 nights and loved it! Previously named Izaak Walton Inn and now is named LOGE of Glacier, pronouced lodge. Cabins and most train lodging cars are across the train tracks from main lodge, you get a secluded feel. It is a bit pricey but we did enjoy it. We ate in lodge restaurant the first night and it was great. We had a kitchenette in the cabin, which was nice to whip up a quick breakfast before heading out for the day. Cabin was comfortable for husband and I, good shower and bed. It sleeps 6 but we did not use the loft rooms. The fire pit and picnic table with the cabin was wonderful. Finding the turn to cabins when we first arrived was a bit tricky, it is not marked. They said if we put in Caboose Ln in GPS it would find it, but that failed for us, we did find it and then just made a mental note of what was around that turn. The road coming into the cabin area is about mile long, after you have driven on main rd (Hwy 2) for just a bit, gravel road which I am assuming is not maintained by the lodge but another entity, Flathead National forest is located right there from cabin area, but this road is a rough so you have to take it easy coming in and out. Take it slow and look for wildlife. We would leave for the day of adventuring in the area & Glacier Nat Park and not return till the end of the day. It is a bit of a drive to either entrance of Glacier but that did not bother us, it's a pretty drive and expected long drives to go anywhere in the area. Hwy 2 is what you run to get around and the speed limit is 70 so that helps. Right down the road is the Goat Lick of Glacier. We enjoyed going to the river accesses that were close to the lodge. This location has been closed for 2 years and has just reopened in Sept 2024, so the few hiccups we ran into is understandable. They are doing several improvements and some are still in progress, so patience is needed. We spoke to the activities personel and he showed us the bikes and other equipment they have to rent, looked wonderful!! I really would of liked to see more pictures of inside of lodging options on website but I am sure that is to come. The staff is wonderful! I was concerned with train sounds and that did not bother us a bit. We did bring a small oscillating fan for white noise, which we use at home, but I think we would of been fine without it. We would recommend these accomendations and hope we can return!!

We stayed 4 nights at an AirBnB in Essex, MT. we had dinner at the Izaak Walton Inn three times and one breakfast. We enjoyed all of our meals. The Inn has an interesting history. We did not tour the accommodations, however, most of the diners we encountered in the restaurant were guests. They all seemed well pleased with their stay at the Inn. The wait staff at the restaurant we excellent.

We stayed here in October 2022. The room was very small. The mattress was terrible and had no support. The futon was bad too. The room was way overpriced for what you get. No elevators for the older population. I would stay somewhere else if I am ever back at GNP.

We stayed in the red caboose cabin on the opposite side of the tracks from the main lodge and enjoyed it. Nice and quiet on that side and that cupola is awesome for train watching. Nice place to stay when visiting Glacier as both entrances are about 30 minutes away. The staff as usual was friendly. Only negative is the supply chain problems that the inn is experiencing. We had to ask for soap and dish detergent and the staff had trouble finding any. Normally there's shampoo and lotion and none of that either. Considering the location we cut them some slack but I hope that they can improve their inventory.

Interesting former railroad worker lodge - has interesting history but is not the same as your usual Historic National Park lodge. More simple and basic. Decor was interesting. Room small but clean and functional. Nice hot tub.

Lacking air conditioning in 95 degree heat rubs the charm off history. Once you've walked through the wood paneled lobby, you're left with the rest of the stay. We enjoyed the track view, the trains, and walking by the outside locomotives and cabooses. The restaurant food was meh and overpriced. Coffee for $5? The bar was small. Order at the bar. The bed was too soft - I had to grip the edge to avoid rolling into my partner. And all this for double what such a motel would have cost a year ago. There are cheaper accommodations in West Glacier (not in the park). If you want to see the place and experience "the charm", buy a drink in the bar and see the track.

We arrived at the hotel in the evening, while having our dinner we sat outside and watching the train come, the receptionist came to us and said wave at them and they will wave us back and YES ofc we excited to do so. The hotel is very warm and welcome, I read a note n toilet and I was so impressed, I went to play billiard 3 times, My Singaporean friend played piano with my favourite instrument (Canon) and we all enjoyed them so much. It's just a 3 nights there but it was memorable, I wish I had another time to go back, but of course with these friends again. Thank you so much Izaak Walton.

While the site is remarkable, with outstanding food, I got caught in an untenable situation. I am a 70 year old with a heart condition; when told I couldn't drive to my cabin due to the railroad blocking the only way in, the hotel was very accommodating to deliver my wife, myself and luggage to out cabin using a golf cart that was used to ride the pedestrian overpass to the cabins, and told us to ask for a ride when we needed one, anytime. However, this was not turned over to Valorie, the snotty night supervisor who told us in no uncertain terms "we don't give rides" I was caught having to walk up a steep incline, in the rain. By the time I made it to the cabin, I was barely able to walk.
