Hotel Bethel - Fort MacLeod, AB

So much was screwy in this accommodation that it was almost funny. First there was an old dirty coffee filter left in the machine. Then the coffee left for the morning was pods but it was not a Keurig type coffee maker. The manager seemed baffled, "But it is coffee INSIDE". Pressed and trying to be helpful, she returned with the teabag type of coffee. Still odd for a coffee maker with basket filters but, okay. Then the wifi. The hotel has about 6 networks but you only get a password that works for one. Unfortunately ours booted you off after about 3 minutes. Given the lack of comprehension of coffee tech, I didn't want to press my luck by venturing an opinion on the wifi set up they had. As I needed to get work done I had to use my phone data. Then the micro-wave sounded like a 747 taking off, the bathtub bottom appeared to have been painted with house paint, but only part of it. The rest looked uninvitingly dirty. Finally the bed was ludicrously high with two thick mattresses on top of a box spring. The top of the mattress was level with my waist and I am a 5 ft 6 in average height woman. You'd need a stool to get into it easily. I had to use a suitcase. Cute decor but one would rather have things that work. Added to these inconveniences people were talking loudly outside until all hours and as the manager was talking with them at times, who to complain to? Then someone was pounding on a neighbouring door at 5 am "time to leave". Yes it was.

The pictures of the rooms online looked quite inviting but the reality of staying there was less than a good experience! The bedding/mattress cover was grossly dirty as well as the pillows - these should have been thrown out. Outside the room was a broken toilet that obviously belonged in the dump and was quite an eye sore to see on the way into the room. The bathroom tank run non stop and when I questioned it, the guy came from the front office came and turned off the valve to stop it from running but that didn't allow us to flush the toilet. Overall, this establishment has many things that need to be repaired and was poorly cleaned by the evidence under the bed. I would not stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

The proprietor was quite helpful starting by letting us check in 4 hours early. That being said there was nobody there at the time. Room was clean if small. Not noisy at all. Just a few blocks from grocery store, downtown cafes and the Fort itself. Everything is walkable.

I needed a room for the day rather than overnight. I was able to have access to my booked room earlier than check in. I really appreciated this because I was required to stay from morning until night and needing a rest during tbe day.

The heater sounded like a jet engine and kept waking me up whenever it switched on.

For a horrible and cheap motel it was ok. But the room could have used a bit of work. The grills on the mini furnace needed to be cleaned and painted. The diverter for the shower did not work. The building looked pretty beat up.

Property was convenient to the location where the event we were attending was located. It was also easy to get to off the highway. Checkin wasn’t easy as location seemed to be unaware of our reservation as they didn’t use computer, we had to pull up our reservation email to verify we had a reservation. Ended up getting charged again (in addition to what was paid via *******). Location attempted to process refund but never came through on account.we were out 68 dollers

The units are very run down. Over one third of the outside lights at the doors to the units were burnt out. There was no safety lock in the units. No drop box for the key at check out but you had to return the key before you left. I had to ring the bell at the office at 6 am. It was answered by a man without a shirt or shoes on. Would never stay here again.

We arrive very late and just needed to sleep for a few hours. No issues checking in or out. The bed was clean and made nicely. The room had been updated but was still worn. The tub was dirty and there was hair on the bath mat. Not as nice as hoped but it was convenient for sleeping.
