Nicest best run small hotel i ever stayed in! Great attention to detail, friendly staff, large comfortable suites, private pool and wood burning hot tub and private fire place. Enjoyed it more than the One & Only we stayed in the night before.

Great location and the grooviest spot in town. Declan and his team have created the most divine spaces in this establishment- a pool area that is a haven, numerous comfy nooks and conversational areas but it is the hospitality that ices the cake. The breakfast is next level and the afternoonsies in the Orangerie are perfect. Every detail is considered from napkins to crockery, cushions to sun hats - beautifully curated! Loved it and hated having to check out - great job team, it’s perfect!

The most amazing hotel ever! Declan and the team are outstanding- the hotel is beyond beautiful with absolutely everything you could imagine thought out and delivered to the highest standard! Absolutely everything surpassed expectations!

This Boutique hotel is superbly fitted out art deco style with the most creative design. Everything has been thought of with regard to comfort and service. Our host Declan made us feel welcome even though we arrived before check in time! The attention to detail is second to none, would definitely stay there again. The location is also a big plus, outside the door parking and a 5 minute walk to restaurants and shops on the Main Street of Franschhoek.

Declan and the entire team delivered top level service, beautiful accommodations, and fabulous food. We felt like we were the only guests there (though we were not). They were so helpful and accommodating. This boutique hotel is within walking distance of everything in town. We always felt safe even when walking after dark. We highly recommend staying here!

A beautiful, cozy and tranquil spot in the middle of wine country, it just doesn't get any better than Akademie. The staff are all so welcoming and helpful, the decor and design of the space is transportive and the mood is positive and relaxing. Stayed with my brother in a cottage with a private swimming pool and patio. The scenery puts you at ease and makes you want to just relax and enjoy. Wish we could've stayed longer! Cannot recommend this property highly enough.

The best welcome. Felt like home from the moment we stepped through the door & welcomed in. The staff could do no more to make your stay exceptional. They were interested in you and that you were interested in finding out about them. 2 nights was not enough! From breakfast to evening pianist in the Orangery - we loved it. Great location, easy walk to shops, galleries and restaurants.

Quite simply the best small hotel in the world ! The ambience, the aroma of jasmine, the music from the live pianist, the eclectic design, art and rooms, the location, the staff, the chat and the sumptuous breakfast. This is from very seasoned travellers who have ~ six vacations per year - there will always be time to visit and stay at Akademie every year !

One of the best boutique hotels I have been to in the world. Right on our doorstep, (sadly it was for one night only) but it felt like we had escaped to Europe. Heritage meets luxury with the most stunning decor, sprawling greenery, fragrant jasmine bushes, a glorious oranjerie setting for pre dinner homemade cocktails and....a fired up hot tub in each suite. The cottage was beautifully appointed, full stocked bar, copper bath, bespoke amenieties....and the largest bed I have yet to sleep in. The service was exceptional, every single team member went out of there way to please. Breakfast was wonderful, wish we had time to laze around the pool and experience more - next time I am booking a few days retreat! Well done Akademie- exceptional. Lisa
