The Lighthouse

The grounds of the hotel were very extensive and attractive; the breakfast very ordinary but most importantly the room was unpleasant-no windows just a skylight and very small. If we had stayed in a larger room we may have formed a more favourable impression

Pros: The Lighhouse is in beautiful surroundings and an ideal location for Longleat Safari Park and Center Parcs. The lady on reception and who served at breakfast was friendly and welcoming. The location is very quiet. The rooms are very clean. Breakfast is of good quality, choice of cereals, muesli etc. pancake making machine, natural yoghurt, honey, jam etc. fruit juices, almond milk, good quality teas and coffee. Beds are comfortable with mattress toppers. Bathrooms are modern with mirrors that contain a light and magnifying shaving/make-up mirror. A nice little bag containing small containers of shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. Cafe (which we didn’t use) with outdoor seating. Nice gardens. Cons: The basic rooms in the stable block do not have a proper window, the only window we had was obscured glass and a narrow window down the side of the door, but as it was full length we had to have it covered by the blind, otherwise people could see in. It’s a shame as they are situated facing a nice courtyard with flower pots. If this doesn’t bother you fine, otherwise perhaps upgrade to a superior room. You had to book your breakfast time the evening before and if you arrive late you have little choice. You also have to decide what hot food you want. The choice was quite simple such as English full breakfast, poached/scrambled eggs on toast or a bap with sausage, bacon etc. I was surprised that there was no avocado on toast or smoked salmon, especially as it is advertised as a four star B&B. No pastries such as croissants. Only fruit is a bowl of apples, bananas etc. I have knocked 2 stars off, one for no window and one for basic breakfast. No doubt if I had stayed in a superior room it would have had 4 stars.

Everyone should stay at The Lighthouse at least once in their life. A little piece of old England lovingly restored to the highest level, set in one of the untouched parts of Britain, but only a few miles from our current version of civilisation. Set in wonderful parkland, where you can wander for miles, just a great place to relax and even use of the nearby pool for the more energetic. Beds are fantastic and so is the do-it-yourself buffet breakfast. You cant go wrong.

Lovely setting with fantastic views of countryside and comfortable modern rooms. Location was excellent for where we needed to get to. Everyone we spoke to was lovely and eager to help. Breakfast was delicious every morning. Only tiny mark against was that the tv didn’t play sound when I plugged in my firestick. Otherwise fantastic. Would definitely stay again

The hotel was situated in the most beautiful and peaceful surroundings, The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very cozy everything you could need was in there, very comfortable. i would highly recommend this hotel, we went to Longleat so it was ideal only a few miles drive to get there, overall AMAZING!

A lovely setting with friendly staff. The room was comfortable. I will be staying here again. You are within a 30 minutes drive to Bath and Glastonbury. The cafe have delicious brownies. I left a couple of items which the receptionist let me know and posted the items of me.

The staff especially Rowena were so helpful and accommodating, we were attending a funeral nearby and she went over and above when I called directly as was showing as not available on other booking websites, she went online whilst I was on the phone release the room to ensure we had somewhere to stay and ensure we didn’t have any extra stress on an already stressful situation, the consideration she showed was so appreciated, as we didn’t arrive til late due to a traffic but nothing was a problem, the breakfast was cooked to order and included, we actually said that we would definitely come back and stay in different circumstances as was a shame it was such a fleeting visit, Bed - comfy and pillows I want to buy for my house as soo good Room - modern and has everything you need Bathroom - clean and shower powerful I can’t fault this place and for the money per night it’s a steal..!

The rooms are very cozy with very farmhouse feels, the hostess was very helpful and friendly and the views...To die for!! There were fishing lakes, a small playground for the children and just a very big green space to just have a morning stroll

This was our second visit to The Lighthouse and we received a lovely welcome from Rowena upon our arrival. Our room was lovely and spacious and had everything we needed to enjoy our break. The poor weather meant we couldn’t enjoy the grounds.
